This week...I tried a scrambled egg & could only take 3 to 4 small bites before deciding that was a bad idea. I really do like eggs, so...I'm hoping that is better next time. And... I opened a MFP account, but I have not been very disciplined in keeping my food journal. I'll do better this week. =)

Eggs were a favorite of mine before WLS. It took a long while... maybe more than a year... before I could tolerate them. For me it was a texture issue more than anything else. You will find a wide variety of experience. For me, anything the least bit rubbery really bothered me and still does. Just pay attention. And it will really help to keep up with MFP.

I do best when I plan my day out. At the beginning, that is harder. You never know what is going to bother your new pouch. But if you put in everything you eat, you can develop enough data to help you, both to see what works and to track your protein intake, which is very important at the beginning. And fluids. Top of the list!

Yes, I've been trying. My problem is...I'm so used to gulping down big amounts of water; I haven't mastered the art of sip, sip, sipping. I just wanted to guzzle, guzzle, guzzle; which is...of course, a big no-no. :-/ What a roller coaster!?! Thank you for your help; it means a lot. :)

I had an incident just a few days out where I was in the bathroom in the middle of the night, filled a glass of water and drank it down without thinking. I was terrified when I remembered I was not supposed to drink so much. i posted on the forum right away and someone responded right away saying it was probably not going to burst my staples ;). You will get the hang of it. I am 2-1/2 years out, 110 pounds down, and so happy with me.

Try really hard to follow your guidelines. Get plenty of liquid in (a sip at a time!) get plenty of protein in whatever form you are at, and (in my humble opinion) keep your carbs low and you will get there. This surgery was a life changing and lfe saving experience for me.

In addition to possibility of a stricture, you maybe experience healing. When we have surgery, our nerves are cut and for a while we may not feel full. As the nerves start healing, you may start feeling your pouch. Around 6-8 weeks post op I suddenly could only eat 1/2 of amount of dense foods. I was still good with liquids, but not with more dense foods.

Or your pouch is irritated and little swollen. Even this far post op, I have "small pouch days" when I get full after just few bites.

Last night, I ate 4 oz of pot roast w/mashed potatoes & carrots; which, I tolerated very well. Hopefully, I'm just being hypersensitive. I'm going to my 6-wk post op visit on Monday, 03/11. I'm going to keep a food journal this week & discuss the way I've been feeling w/my surgeon then. Fingers crossed...there won't be much to discuss. =)

Hey Guys! I had RNY surgery on 01/25/19. I've been on pureed & soft foods for about 2-wks. I've been doing ok, but... For the past week or so, it seems like EVERYTHING (except liquids) is making me feel very full...very fast & nauseous...even things I have been able to eat. I feel hungry, but... I only eat a few bites & I feel like I'm going to vomit. I haven't vomited, but... I feel like I could, so I stop eating. My concern is...I don't want to make myself sick by not eating & I don't want to delay talking to my surgeon if this isn't normal. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

Margaret

Call the doctor's office. Change could indicate problems.

I understand, but... It could, also, be a common issue & I don't want to panic if it's common. :)
