What is on your menu today (Wednesday) RNYers?
Glad you nailed the liquids Daisy and your dinner sounds delicious.
QOTD: I always say the language gene skipped me in my family tree. My sister was fluent in French and 2 her sons got the gene. One lives in Japan and speaks Japanese so well people do not even know he is American on the phone. Married a Japanese woman and has 2 children there. Her other son is fluent in Portuguese. He is gifted in Martial Arts and teaches that on the side- through that met and married a Brazilian woman although they live here.
Then there is my son and DIL. My DIL is fluent in Spanish and speaks Mandarin Chinese. She lived in Taiwan the year before she met my son. My son self taught himself Spanish living in Chicago and I heard him do an interview totally in Spanish in a cable channel-so while not sure about his writing and reading can certainly speak it. They are living in India now and both learning Hindi. My son says his Hindi is as good as his Spanish now. Again notice I am not in this equation?
I am going to a business lunch trying to decide if this place is a good for a corporate event. I looked up the menu online and realized this restaurant-although I have never been there before is owned by the same family that owns one of my favorite restaurants ... and they have my favorite appetizer there on the menu- Fried Thai calamari. I never thought I liked calamari until I had it there. Tender not rubbery, fried and drizzled in a Thai peanut sauce. Drooling....
I will not eat the fried calamari
I will not eat the fried calamari...repeat
The woman going with me is vegan and skinny so that will be a deterrent... it's a huge portion and she won't share and you can not reheat....
- Overnight oats and protein
- TBD lunch out
- greek salad, chicken
- S: protein, apple, zucchini protein muffins
ex: gym day

good morning peeps!
I had a rough commute this morning, as I forgot the main road I normally take is being closed for construction so there is now a detour that adds about 10 extra minutes to my already 45 minute commute. UGH...then, of course with the slippery conditions, there were 3 accidents on my way too...I usually like to get to work a little early to settle in, so thankfully I was only 1 minute late LOL...it was just stressful. I hate being late.
I rarely even pay attention to what the weather forecast people say unless it is really a huge deal. if they predict like many inches of snow or have winter weather advisories, then I will heed warnings, but living in the midwest is like a crap shoot anyway...you can need the furnace on in the morning and the a/c in the afternoon...there's just no telling.
QOTD: I am kind of embarrassed to say I know zero other languages than English. I never took any foreign language classes in school at all...I got out of it somehow...I spent all of my electives on Art classes. My senior year in HS I was taking Painting, photography, commercial design and Senior art studio...so 4 of my 8 classes were just art classes LOL...I figured I may as well take a bunch of stuff I really liked...I do wish I had learned a little Spanish at some point but from what I've heard from other people that took language classes in school, most people forget it as soon as they stop using it...so I feel OK about it now.

Buon giorno Daisy & all!
We didn't get our rain storm either. Just a sprinkle. Today the same, they are forecasting flood warnings but we haven't hit any rain yet.
QOTD: in my family we always joke that I'm the disappointment; because my grandpa spoke 11 languages, my mom speaks 7 and I speak only 4 languages. I'm fluent (speak, read, write) in Engli****alian & Spanish. I speak (hard time with reading or writing) Farsi - worked in Iran at the Italian consulate for two years. I also understand Armenian but never count it as my languages because I can't speak it. My mom and grandma spoke it when didn't want us to understand what they were talking about, but slowly I picked it up and could understand about 75% of the conversation especially when it was about me!
Accountabiliy : great. No protein bar or cookie.
B: protein coffee
L: HB eggs and something (I hard boiled 12 eggs yesterday)
S: yogurt
D: grilled chicken
Have a great hump day and stay warm/dry.

QOTD- I took 3 years of Spanish grades 5-8, but I'm hopeless now. I can still recognize written words, but can't speak it to save my life. Since then I've tried many different programs to learn it but to no success.
The ones I always feel sorry for are the reporters standing on the edge of the road or overlooking the freeway. Look at how much snow, look at how I slide, look at the cars sliding by. The weather guessers are rarely right in the Portland area, too many variables but today they got it right. There is snow and I'm working from home. It's about an inch but I'm not taking a chance.
It's a good thing I'm home as my cat just puked all over the duvet cover that soaked through to the down comforter. So one is in the wash now, I couldn't imagine finding it tonight....
My friend is going to take me in for my biopsy tomorrow if there is still snow. He calls me a whimp, and I gladly agree. I will only drive in snow if I absolutely have to. I'm way past ready for winter to be over. More snow is predicted for tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone!

Even if he's teasing you about it, I'm glad he's taking you for the biopsy if the weather is bad. One less thing for you to be anxious about!

Good morning~ Happy hump day! It raining AGAIN and will be for the foreseeable future, ugh. I'm SO over this! I'm ready for dry sunny weather, thank you very much. I have interviews this morning for a promotional position in my unit. I hate having to tell people they didn't get the job, especially when they feel entitled to the position for whatever reason. I have to choose what is best for my unit as a whole and I don't take this decision process lightly.
QOTD - No! I took French for 8 years and switched to Spanish for 3. Beyond basic stuff, common words and phrases, I'm clueless. I would love to be fluent in French and thin I would probably pick it up fast. It's on my bucket list.
Accountability - I had some almonds when I got home - before dinner - again. I need to figure out this 'eating time zone' cause it's becoming a new problem for me.
