Restriction gone after 5 years?
i haven't been on here in a hot minute and was just thinking of reading a few posts until I was curious about something...
ive been maintaining at my goal weight of 135lbs and about 15% bf for a few years now. I focus a lot on nutrition and bodybuilding 6x a week. I have a nice amount of muscle and definition (had an arm lift, implants and tummy tuck btw) - I probably need a thigh lift but it's bearable. Anyways... all this to say I'm happy with my body and just feel normal.
I don't seem to have any food restrictions and I can eat like a "normal" person. People who don't know about my surgery would never guess cause I can eat regular portions. It's been 5.5 years since my gastric bypass and was wondering if anybody else feels like they can eat as much as a "normal" person?
I could physically start to eat "normal" portions after about 6 months.

Congrats Nadia on your success and you seem to be rocking maintenance! It think its wonderful that you are happy with your body and feel "normal," I must admit I rarely hear that here on OH!
I have read here from the Vets that the restriction after bypass lasts anywhere from 18 mos to 2 yrs post op and then really we can all eat like "normies." For me that was pretty much exact. I am 5yrs & 3 mos post op and can eat normal size portions (if I let myself) and there is no food I can't eat (minus some food allergies I have that have nothing to do with my gastric bypass, I had the allergies before I had the operation).
Its been said a million times here and will be said a million times more but this is one of the main rules you see the Vets saying "weigh & measure your food!" Carbs and slider foods (like yogurt or popcorn) I can eat by the boat load. So I have to measure a proper portion out or not eat it. Although if I put a dense meat on my plate like steak, pork chop, chicken breast I can only eat 4-6oz max as it fills my pouch right up.
So yes I an eat pretty much like a normal person and that is why I still to this day weigh & measure my food, if not my food addiction takes over and I will eat myself back up to 280lbs.
Keep up the awesome work!
