Wednesday Wonderings

Hi Everyone -- I'm gearing up for our annual Oscar party on Sunday...it's like my version of the Super Bowl, lol. We will watch ALL the red carpets plus the award show itself and then rehash the fashion choices for a few days afterwards..this will be our 19th year doing it!

In that vein -- is there anyone whose fashion sense you would love to copy? In this world, all sizes fit and $ is not a barrier.

Two women that I just think look amazing in everything are Lupita Nyong'o and Cate Blanchett. They both use color and design to great effect, they both take chances (and sometimes those chances are not successful) but in all cases they look amazing. Cate, particularly, has a great way of pushing the envelope in her high fashion dresses (I love so many of her looks with illusion patterns) and then also having so many outfits that can go from Broadway to the boardroom in the same day.

Here are a couple of my favorite looks from each of them.

Aaaaw, Jen, you and I need to combine our parties. I love Oscar parties. Each year we choose a movie we loved best and try and dress the theme.

I love those who take risks and don't wear just the typical gown. Off the top of my head there were a couple who actually wore pants in years past that I loved. But don't ask me who or whom they wore because I can remember everything that night while we are discussing it but out of my head the morning after.

I'll make sure to take notes this time and let you know who I liked best. I love the red carpet better than the oscars!

Oh, we will definitely have to dish afterwards. The red carpet is my favorite!

Oooh what a fun party!!! I agree - Lupita is absolutely breath-taking. I think she's amazing. I always think Diane Keaton is pretty badass on the red carpet too.

Since I rarely watch movies, I don't really get into the Oscars, but I like the pre-show! I dearly miss Joan Rivers and her show where she made fun of everyone the following week!

Joan (and the Fashion Police) were so much fun! I loved Kelly Osborne on that show, she tried so hard to be nice about the people while being critical about their outfits.

And if I could pull it off, I would rock Diane Keton's Annie Hall look every day at work.
