Hi menu friends. Sorry I have been MIA. I have been in migraine hell (dizzy, vomiting, trip to Emerg). I have seriously lost a week due to such severe pain. I saw a neurologist who specializes in migraines last week (I have been waiting 9 months to see her!!!), good news is we have a good plan to attack these horrible headaches, bad news is she told me that 5 out of the 5 meds I was taking that my PCP had prescribed to me CAUSED migraines. I was pretty devastated. Anyways onward, new meds, new lifestyle changes and only thing she said I could not eat is tuna and aged cheese, I can live with that!

How are you all? Hope everyone is well. I have missed you all.

Accountability: ugly friends, its been ugly. The severity of the migraine pain just makes me not care about following a plan. Its 100 times easier to grab some cheese & crackers when I can't even stand up straight due to the pain than stand in my kitchen and make a healthy protein forward meal from scratch. I am just being real with you all, my eating has been crap. I am back on track.

QOTD: Do you have any family or friends that are always trying to lose weight and they make it so much harder on themselves? I have a good friend, she has put on about 25 lbs above her "ideal" weight. She is relatively new in my life and does NOT know I had WLS. Every single day she either texts me or messages me that she can't lose weight!! I will say "well what are you eating?" And every.single.day she will tell me she is eating some kind of protein (usually chicken) and either rice or potatoes. I always try to say to her that she might get more success if she ate say chicken with broccoli or riced cauliflower. Nope, she tells me that her portion of rice/potatoes is totally fine and ... yet this has been going on for a year now and she has not dropped a pound. Don't keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result, ugh!

Time since surgery: 5 yrs + 3 mos

B: decaf coffee with vanilla RTD premier protein & Skyr vanilla yogurt with raspberries

L: 2 eggs scrambled with salsa

S: 30g of marble cheese and fresh strawberries

D: chimichuri marinated salmon & steamed green beans

S: SmartPop 100 calorie popcorn bag

Totals: 922 calories, 92 protein, 55 carbs

V: patchMD patches are on + oral B12

E: 10km hike in the snow with the dogs and 60 min step class in the evening

L: 150 oz is my daily minimum for me to feel hydrated

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning and glad to have you back! So happy the doctor was able to help you out.

On Saturday, I thought DH was taking me to a chili cook-off but it turned out he was taking me to my 50th surprise party! I cannot even believe he pulled it off. It was at a winery in Delaware and when we got there it was packed, so I thought nothing of it. There was a huge room with tables and chairs, I guess my 'party' took about 1/4 of the room. So much fun and a big surprise. There was a band and karaoke - not for my party but because the winery has events every weekend. It was great!

Accountability: This weekend was off but yesterday I reeled myself in. My belly felt pretty sick after junk food and wine. I still managed to get 100 ounces of water each day.

QOTD: I have a coworker who always says she needs to lose weight but eats a lot of carbs and candy. I never say anything. She has been supportive of me and my choice and I keep my thoughts to myself.

TSS: 1 year and 1-month/weight today 161

B: 1 cup milk and a protein shake with my vitamins

L: 3-ounce pork chop and roasted broccoli with a sprinkle of parm cheese

S: apple with a babybel cheese

D: Ever Roast chicken with a babybel cheese

Tonight is support group and my surgeon is the guest speaker, so I guess we are going, however, the heater just decided to die so... plans are up in the air.

Have a great day!

Very nice of your husband to throw you a surprise party. These parties are a lot of work especially when everybody needs to keep the secret. Happy you had fun and happy 50th again.

What an awesome surprise; and funny because I know you weren't entirely thrilled at the idea of the chili cookoff!! Good on DH for pulling it off!

Hi all

quick one for me. saturday I ran errands and got my oil changed, worked out, dealer told me I needed an alignment so i said, well i will have someone do that for much cheaper than $90! So went yesterday and had kaufmann tire do it for $60 instead. I didn't work out yesterday but walked a good bit and sunday I hung out at home. Acid is up so not feeling awesome and not hungry with it.

so the latest with the job situation is that my last day will be April 1. SO---over 18 years with this job. I'm actually looking forward to the next chapter.

Accountability has been fine

QOTD: yes most everyone in my life says they want to lose. You can eat potato's and lose weight. sounds like she is eating too many calories and should be focusing on meat/veg/ then a little carb.

Food for today:

ham packet

coffee

water

chicken thigh

not sure what else actually still feeling a little ill from acid

Oh Hillary, I am sorry to hear about your job. I know how tough the uncertainty is, but I have found (in my experience) that the most scary and terrifying times (related to jobs) always lead to something better. It isn't always better within weeks, but in hindsight, the path was the path I was meant to be on and worked out for the best. I haven't job-hunted in a while but I found Indeed and LinkedIn to be my best friends! But I sort of remember you work in HR so you likely know that? One thing is that I hate when people reach out to me and ask if I know of any job for them. It's very hard for me to place someone. But if they reach out to me because they have seen a specific job at my company, and attach their resume and a note about why they are a great fit, I do anything I can to connect them to the hiring manager and facilitate it. Good luck

The outplacement really pushed connecting with people on linked in - you never know if something will pop up but they encourage reaching out to people to at least plant a seed in case they see something in project management/HR area their mind will jog to the conversation. we will see :)

Hello! Just wanted to put in my two cents. I work for LinkedIn. My advice would be to be as detailed as possible building your profile and try to use as many general keywords as possible to describe your jobs and job functions. You can set your profile to "open to opportunities" and recruiters in your area will start contacting you ;)

The search features in our Recruiter product is based on keywords and then recruiters can narrow their searches to geographic location, experience, certifications, companies, schools, etc, so the more detail you have on your profile the better for making contacts.
