9000mg potassium a day SR TABS - HELP
I'm very worried about possible complications from RNY BYPASS.
I have kidney issue where my body just flushes out potassium so quickly that I'm on high strength potassium chloride tabs which are sustained release/slow release at 600mg per pill X 15/day = 9000mg every single day for my life, mind you I haven't had it adjusted in about 20 years.
Everything I read about the RNY bypass suggests issues with slow release medications.
If I go without for even a week I'll be in ICU :( I'm hoping because I take such a dose it will be okay if not will I need to find powder or what? Will I find powder that gives me enoug mg?
I know I'll have to talk to doctors and surgeons but I thought maybe somebody here had become an expert over the years?
Maybe once I lose the 150lbs I need I'll be able to take less as I've been obese since late teens!!
Help please
I have had potassium issues but not nearly as severe as yours.
I am assuming you take fairly large horse pills? I know mine were and I did have trouble swallowing them initially out of surgery- they were hard to break and crushing was hard too.
I ended up buying a powder off Amazon from a company called Bulk Supplements. I have bought several of their products over the years, and find them to be reliable. They have both chloride and citrate.
Good Luck
