Most of the wine is still packed and then wine fridge is full of yogurt, half and half, deli meat and cheese sticks. It does hold a couple days worth which is nice, at least I'm not running the grocery store EVERY day...just every other is, lol.

Honestly, most cholesterol problems are due to genetics and not diet, so do your best to keep your intake low but don't be discouraged if that doesn't fix it all.

No one in my family has had an issue, which is kind of crazy - given all the weight and other issues that are on both sides of the family...but apparently we missed that gene, lol. Since I had never had one either, I'm going with the anomaly theory until they tell me different, lol.

Good Morning!

Just sitting here planning out my day and menu. Have a workout, an oil change and a haircut on the schedule. Thinking of actually changing my hairstyle... my hair has been funky lately. It stopped falling out after the ferritin infusion, but is still thinner than normal. Figure I can get some reading in while I wait for the oil change.

My struggle right now is the scale and cognitive dissonance...hahaha. I feel good, clothes fit, but it is higher than I want. Between Christmas and Grandkids visit it has inched up.... I also know with my brain if I go overly restrictive that will just backfire. Spending my day trying to make the food align with the planets on MFP doesn't seem to be working...ha....So I am going to take a few days and do what I did to lose the 220 pounds and go old school paper recording and just count my protein and fluids, and weigh daily as a barometer for adjustments. It maybe the brain refresh I need if nothing else.

QOTD: High Blood Pressure resolved, and my A1c has gone down, although I was not diabetic. The ability to move my body I will include in this as it means my unseen joints are under less stress.

  • Overnight oats and protein
  • Fit Crunch PB shake
  • Protein Pumpkin Muffins
  • Falafal and Mediterranean salad
  • steak and veggie TBD
  • Premier Protein
  • S: (optional) Apple, yogurt

EX: Gym day.

I can relate to the holiday weight. I still haven't gotten down below 150 lbs, my old "oh crap" level, which I went over due to holiday eating. I've been hovering around 151 (so I've lost some), but it just doesn't want to budge under that. I know it would if I dropped my calorie intake by a couple hundred calories (or more..), but like you, overly restrictive eating tends to set me up for disaster. I may have to live with this - or maybe just drop back slightly and increase my exercise. Not sure. Who knew how tough it would be to lose a couple of pounds when you're normal weight??

good morning everyone!

This week seriously is dragging...I can't believe it's only Wednesday! Luckily I took the day off Friday and we are going to take Story to the Shedd Aquarium. DH's company participates in the corporate family days for the museums downtown, so we get in for free in February and even get free tickets to the shows/attractions. We go every year. I love the shedd, It's probably my favorite museum besides when Science & Industry had the Body Worlds exhibit...that was one of the coolest things I've ever seen...I've seen it twice and I will go again if/when it returns. I do love the art institute but I used to go to school right across the street and I used to go there all the time between classes. I've been there so many times I feel like it's not as exciting anymore unless there is an exhibit I really want to see.

I had my 1 year follow up yesterday and my Surgeon was super pleased with my results. He basically said he was happy with where I am and didn't think I needed to even lose any more. He said I already did better than most of their patients as far as dropping 23.5 BMI points, and talked about trying to get insurance approval for skin removal surgery as soon as this summer. (he performs Panniculectomy surgery for a lot of his patients).
I am still trying to get to my personal goal weight of 150, so not ready to step into Maintenence just yet, but it was nice to hear that I'm a blazing success!

QOTD: I didn't have a whole lot of health issues yet, but I was pre-diabetic and had borderline high cholesterol. I've always had high Triglycerides but wasn't on meds yet. that runs in my family too though, so hopefully with a healthy diet I can avoid those meds too. I just got my lab results yesterday and everything is 100% normal! I even managed to raise my Iron & Ferratin levels by a couple of points so I am closer to mid-range than low-normal now. I am trying to be dilligent about that since I know so many people talk about how difficult it can be once you're already anemic.

Morning: Coffee w/half vanilla PP, then tea.
B: creamy chicken cauliflower soup (I need to eat this last container before it goes bad)
L: the last of the big mac in a bowl
D: 2oz deli buffalo chicken coldcuts, slice of muenster and greek L&F yogurt
also plan for decaf tea this evening...it worked yesterday!

Congratulations on your success; I knew your doctor would be thrilled with you, you've done so well!

I used to volunteer at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (and will be starting there again soon) and I was a team leader for the Body Worlds exhibit when we had it here - -it was an amazing experience. We had about 20 hours of training whi*****lude some training directly from Van Hageens who created the exhibition. People reacted so strongly to the exhibition it was always an adventure -- we had people faint, we had people yell at us, we had a lot of people come out just incredibly amazed by the human body. Funnily enough, I liked working the cart where we showed the cross section of a "normal" thigh and an obese thigh and was very comfortable in that setting talking about what my body looked liked internally at that weight vs "normal".

One of the highlights for me was when I took my mom on a guided tour of the exhibition -- my mom was in a head on car accident when I was 10 and she has so many added parts now -- screws, braces, wires -- she's the real bionic woman. There is one plastinate that shows all the medical devices so she was able to see all the different things that she has. It was pretty cool. (Sorry for the long comment, BW was one of my all time favorite exhibits to work (the Liberty Bell 7 and Titanic are the other two!)
