morning everyone! I'm laying awake waiting for the alarm to go off so I figured I'd jump in here. Hows everyone making out? We had snow over the past two days- not much, but rain turned it to heavy sleet. I'd like zero precipitation today. Kids and I have dentist appointments this afternoon so we'll cut out of work early.

Qotd: let's brag on the 'invisible' benefits of WLS? What health issue resolved for you?

Me: high blood pressure and being pre-diabetic is gone. I'll say I have to try and keep an open mind when I go to the doc now- because I feel like It should be impossible that they arise as an issue now. But 'skinny' people get these afflictions too. It's why I'm so dedicated to exercise-- I feels it it can help keep the medical issue at bay a bit longer. Speaking of skinny- a co-worker carried on about how skinny I'm getting-- seems absurd to hear that still!

213 today, 3.9 years out

m1: egg, fried plantains, ham

m2: protein bar (can't find raspberries for my beloved yogurt!!)

m3: steak and mashed sweet potato

m4: ?? I'm not cooking so don't know.

I finally have a normal work day today! Yesterday I cleaned out a spare room for a potential student (I'll explain later) that may or may not be staying with us for a few months. I also walked on the treadmill on the hour every hour to get my 10,000 steps in. It was a productive day.

Accountability: could have been better

QOTD: I would say no high blood pressure, no pre-diabetes, no medical issues at all. I love not taking any prescription medication to control x, y, and z. I love not going to the pharmacy to pick up meds.

TSS: 1 year and 1-month/weight 163 pounds

B: PP chocolate shake with vitamins and then 2 hardboiled eggs

S: blueberries, blackberries, peaches

L: leftover bacon and chicken soup

S: Greek yogurt

D: on my own because DH has a meeting so probably a salad with protein

lots of water and all vitamins

Have a great day!

Morning everyone! Thanks for getting us started Peach! Sending lots of strong and healthy thoughts your way as you count down the days to your big race!

QOTD: While losing the weight was amazing, getting healthy has been the best result of WLS. Before surgery I had diabetes (on the verge of starting insulin), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea (using a CPAP), a lifetime of severe asthma, a heart murmur and I couldn't walk the block from the train to my office building without getting out of breath. Within a few months after surgery, all of them have been resolved, although I keep a close eye on my blood sugar and my lung capacity isn't quite at the "normal" or "athletic" level. I am always amazed at what my body can do now but it certainly isn't all magic...lots of hard work and continual effort.

I went for a run on the treadmill at lunch yesterday and they were all full, so I decided to try the elliptical. I've always had trouble doing it and hated the experience. Strangely, I really enjoyed it and plan to try it again soon. I love running but I've been on running rehab since Christmas because of a hip injury and the elliptical was a nice break while still getting in some good cardio. It's still strange the I enjoy exercise so much after a lifetime of avoiding as much movement as possible!

Menu:

B: coffee, HB eggs

S: Chomps

L: chili or Subway oven roasted chicken salad

S: protein shake, Chomps, apple

D: cottage cheese, blackberries, slivered almonds, ham

Exercise: I have an hour in the gym with my trainer after work.

Good morning folks! This morning I did my first (of what feels like billions) IVF injection. I'm nervous about what all the meds are going to do to my weight I know many women gain a lot during the process.

QOTD: My sleep apnea is resolved post-WLS. Unfortunately my high BP has not. My doctor believes it's just me, my genetics. It's annoying as I had hoped to be able to get off meds, but no such luck.

I have meeting after meeting today in three different locations and need to attempt to fit in a trip to one of the library's banks. I'm not sure how I'm going to get to everything on time, but I have my menu (mostly) planned and everything packed up in my little insulated lunch bag ready to go. I am allowing a little extra wiggle room in my plan as I know the morning meeting will have snacks and I might indulge depending on what's on offer.

TSS: almost 5 years

B: coffee with half and half, egg cups

S: another coffee and ???

L: rotisserie chicken and a string cheese

S: turkey sticks

D: leftover meatloaf

S: ???

Have a lovely day, friends!

don't worry too much about weight gain while taking the hormones...it is definitely common but as long as you're sticking to your meal plan you'll be fine. It's only a few weeks and it is going to make you gain water weight for sure because your ovaries are going to be overloaded with eggs and fluid...it will all go away after the procedure!

My IVF prep was 6 weeks which felt like forever, with what seemed like a tons of pills, a millions shots in my stomach, rear and legs and a 20 pound gain that I'm not sure I lost until WLS! How did you do it so many times?
