Happy surgiversary! It really is hard to stay the course as you get further from surgery. Stay consistent and keep getting your fluids and protein in.

As for thermostats, I love our programmable one. I used to forget to lower the temp in the morning before we left for the day. Now it gets warm before I get up in the morning and a little while before I get home in the evening! Very nice!

Amber, you have done so amazingly! You should be so proud of yourself! You have worked really hard.

I never see my surgeon since surgery but he didn't know anything about post-WLS life anyway. His nut wasn't super helpful either but I have a PCP who is knowledgeable and helpful and will order labs for me and help me decipher them. As long as you have a medical professional on your side, it doesn't need to be related to the man or woman who cut you open :)

Good Morning! Thank for starting us off. Today I have a follow up appt with the therapist at my center and the goal is look through the list of counselors I got from insurance to decide on where to start. Sorry you had a dumping experience, be kind to your body today.

Accountability: I had a few snacks before I went to bed.

QOTD: This is the first year in the house we are in now and we are keeping it at around 65 throughout the day but right before bed I will raise it to 68 and then we move it to 63 overnight. I have a space heater in the room I use as my office when I am working from home because it that room was converted from a patio or something and there was no duct work done to bring the air/heat to that room. I do love my app enabled thermostat.

Time since surgery: 4 years 6 months

B: SF latte, eggbeaters, ½ an orange and 2 turkey sausage links

L: Albacore lettuce wraps and baby carrots

S: Simply protein chips and carbmaster yogurt

D: Eggbeaters, turkey sausage links, ½ Mikey's English muffin with butter and SF jelly, cauliflower hash browns, sliced fruit, and 2 squares dark chocolate

ES: Homemade Greek yogurt with SF syrup and ¼ cup fiber cereal

E: 6 miles ran this morning and 40 mins of elliptical at lunch

V/W: On track

Totals: Cals:1279 Protein:120 Carbs:92 Fat:51

Have a great one!

I just want to add in, I cannot BELIEVE you run 6 miles before work and then workout at lunch! Beast mode!

I have talked to my therapist about this "beast mode" and over the coming months depending on how all this goes I might need to tweak my routine (even typing that freaks me out! I am telling ya...the head games are fierce!)

I certainly understand the fear of letting go of white knuckling control. Happy to chat if you like.

For the first year post surgery I worked out at least an hour a day almost always 7 days a week. It has really helped my health but I've found that my body also needs some downtime to rest and recover. For instance, if I do hard ab work more than 2-3 days a week, I still get spasms and cramps. I also found that the really intense cardio every day needed to be scaled down a bit and balanced with the strength training that doesn't burn as many calories up front but has been amazing for keeping my metabolism up, developing muscle strength and definition, etc.

And hardest of all is giving myself a break once in a while when I've had a day from h***. The exercise can help but sometimes I just need to rest and sleep too. I get so anxious that I'll back slide into total inactivity again if I don't workout like crazy.

You truly are amazing and worth all the best!
