14 yrs post op
Do you take your vitamins/calcium every single day?
Do you exercise rsgularly?
Have you had a dexa scan?
Have you seen a doctor.
How old are you?
I'm 56, 14 years out and walk at least 10k steps a day. I take my supplements every single day. I had my last dexa scan 3 ish years ago which showed my bones are in above average shape for my age.
I don't think having had an RNY is a singular reason for joint/bones hurting. There are lots of factors that could cause your symptoms

Hello. I am 60 years old, 18 years post-op RNY and have recently Had to have total left hip and knee replacement surgery 6 months ago. In addition I had fallen and broken my right clavicle and at this point have undergone three surgeries to attempt to repair the damage. Two of the three surgeries took place only two weeks apart because my surgeon put in a plate and tied it to bones in my shoulder. When I went for my postop after experiencing horrific pain in my right shoulder the doctor found that the plate he installed had broken the bone and popped out of the area where he placed a hook. The surgeon believes this was caused by both osteoarthritis arthritis and the RNY surgery I had back in 2001. Long story short I believe that this surgery did contribute to the brittle bones, however, that said I will say I was not always good about making sure I took calcium supplements so feel partly responsible. I am extremely careful about taking them since and it is my hope others might be helped by this post. Diana
