What's on your menu today (Tuesday) RNYers?
What an awful commute, I'm glad you made it home safe.
QOTD- I played volleyball one year, basketball 2 years, cross-country for 2 years and track for 3 or 4 years I don't remember. As a kid I swam all the time, but wasn't fast enough for the swim team. We moved the summer between 8th grade and high school, and the new school had no pool and I could only get to a pool occasionally. I wasn't overweight until I was 19-20, since then I yo-yo'd for years.
I've been really struggling at work. Feeling like I have no support or back-up and dealing with way too many projects and demands on my time. If I had the money I would retire today, but without social security and medicare I couldn't survive. My medical insurance went up $140 a month this year, and there is no way to afford it without working.
I did see my counselor yesterday and see her again next Friday. It helps a lot, but there is nothing to fix the situation I'm in. I have been looking for another job, but it could be worse- it's hard to tell from the outside looking in. The positives for my current job is that it is less than 3 miles from home, and I get to work from home on Fridays. I just need to change my attitude and find a way to survive until I can retire.
Have a great day everyone!

being in a job you hate and not being able to leave is the WORST. I was in a situation like that about 20 years ago. It affects your whole life. I was miserable, but I couldn't afford to leave. I was at one time offered another position, but at a much lower salary. However, had I not been in so much debt at the time, I would have taken it in a heartbeat just to get out of my miserable situation. But - I couldn't afford to leave. It took another couple of years before I could escape. I don't know what to say other than my heart goes out to you.
Newbie here....hope ya don't mind me posting. Just had my surgery last Wednesday so still on the puréed diet.
B: 2 oz of plain oatmeal mixed with some sugar free applesauce and mashed up banana.
S: 2 oz of low fat cottage cheese mixed with some puréed, no sugar added peaches.
L: 2 oz of homemade veggie soup puréed....minus the corn.
D: 2 oz of fat free re-fried beans with low fat cheese, salsa and low fat sour cream.
S: 2 oz of sugar free chocolate pudding.
So far I've been tolerating everything I've eaten. "Knock on wood". I won't lie though...will be glad to be able to eat more than just puréed foods! And I'm only one week in so have a ways to go yet. But what I'd give for a salad...some chicken....salmon or anything crunchy! I've been drinking the premier protein chocolate shakes too, but today I had to switch it up because I was just tired of all the sweet. I know I didn't get in anywhere near my 60 grams of protein though. Working on that...

Welcome MadisonRose!
The pureed stage, ugh the worst right! It will pass and before you know it you will be eating tons of dense protein and veggies and this will be a distant memory!
I hope you will stick around and join us on the menu thread. We have lots of people here who are at all different stages post op and if you have any questions please feel free to ask and get to know us all, I think we are a pretty awesome bunch!
Congrats on surgery, it can be hard some days but in the long run I hope you will be as happy as I am post op!
Take care,
Daisy
