We've had so many convos like yours. But he reacts like a typical kid who's had everything so doesn't know what it means not to have. He keeps saying happiness is more important than making money! Rolling eyes

I have already lowered my standards with him. With DD anything lower than 4.0 gpa was unacceptable. With him I said we are ok with 3.8 and he is maintaining 3.8. But as you know colleges are so competitive that I'm worried 3.8 is not enough.

I also think this group of girls tell him he is fine and why is she studying so much? Argh!! Funny DH yesterday said even the surf trash group (what we endearing call a group of surf kids that are not big on school but surf all the time) are at this point better than the group he hangs out with. Also what do ALL these girls see in him? He is the only boy in a group of 5 girls. One of them is his gf but the rest are friends. DD says DS is the type of boy girls feel comfortable with. Still, WTH?

I know...at that age, you can't tell them anything. Even with Cyara, I am not convinced that she is a "four year college three months after high school graduation" kind of gal. This is unheard of in my family - you graduate and go to college! But I think she may need a year, barely scraping by, working as a waitress and struggling to pay rent, cell phone, car insurance etc to make her realize "Oh. I better go to school. This is tough. This is not the life I want". I dunno, I wish I had better advice. I think the phrase, "youth is wasted on the young" is very apropos here!

Good morning~ I would not survive living in the winter weather these days. It's bad enough that I drove to work today in the dark with heavy misty and thick fog. Still worried about my son, he is stuck in limbo and seriously depressed, but is as okay as he can be for now. We didn't get the townhouse we wanted. They picked an applicant without pets over us. We are looking at another house today, so we'll see. Yesterday was a really long and tough day. I got home really late and comfort ate a bit...

QOTD - I was in swimming, gymnastics and figure skating through elementary school and loved them. In jr. High I played softball for a couple years - my best friend was the pitcher/best player and I was the worst. By then I was pretty overweight and I hated running or sweating so it was just miserable for me.

Accountability - french fries and cheese puffs last night. Crashed hard in a NyQuil/carb fog. Not proud.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about the townhouse. Maybe the house today is ten times better!

Re; your son, that must be tough to watch him go through. No matter what you say, he's not going to believe that there are better things ahead until he gets to the better things. I am so sorry. Sending you hugs.

Sorry about the house Amy. My mom always says homes choose you, you don't choose them. The right one will come along.

Big hugs for what your son is going through.

Good morning,

Daisy, I couldn't imagine 5 hours drive home. I'm glad you made it home safe.

It looks worse today than yesterday. There was only ten kids on my side of the building. After five, I was down to one kid till 6 pm. So it was a slow day.

I did take the cookies to work that I chowed down on the night before but I had some mini Cadbury eggs last night. At least it was a single size.

Qotd I twirled baton from 1st grade until 8th grade. Played summer softball league when I was a kid till I got to old for it. Ice skate in the winter time all the time when the rink or our pond was frozen enough. I really wanted to do gymnastics but as a fat kid I wasn't able to because I tried an hour class when I was young. In school, I didn't feel I was capable of playing sports where you had to try out due to being shy and fat. One time in high school I went to one volleyball practice but I felt I wouldn't make the team so I dropped out.

B ham and cheese omelette and string cheese

L tuna, cottage cheese and unsweetened applesauce

D chicken salad and probably some kind of vegetable

Have a good day
