waiting for RNY surgery in Humber river Hospital. Any experience from there?
I had my surgery there as well, however my experience wasn't as good as everyone else's. I find they are highly disorganized and I was "lost in the shuffle" a few times. From the time that I went to my info session, to the time I had my sugary, 18 months had gone by. This is not due to my lack of diligence. I never missed an appt and I always did exactly what I was told. If you'd like my advice, follow up with them often. I made the assumption that they knew what they were doing and I was patient. I think if I were more (politely) aggressive, I would have shaved 6 months off the process.
Dr. Starr was my surgeon. He's a very nice man, however he barely listens and he rushes in and out. I always felt like I was just a number when I was in his presence. However, he's a good surgeon and I was in and out of the OR in 45 minutes with no complications.
I also found that the staff weren't very nice, but I always attributed that to the fact that the hospital itself is so disorganized that they're very frustrated working in that environment.
I've never recommended this hospital to anyone as it's been my only experience there. However, I'm happy everyone else's experiences were great. Perhaps mine was a rare one-off. fingers crossed
Good luck!
