waiting for RNY surgery in Humber river Hospital. Any experience from there?
Thanks! From August 1st to November 21st (November 21St is when I started Optifast), I was largely following the healthy plate model that they laid out in the book they give you at Humber. I dropped a fair bit of weight that way.
Then when I did optifast, I lost some more weight as well, but most of it came off due to the lifestyle change I had made prior.

Once you get in and receive your initial weigh in and go to the consultation and receive the book and all that, my understanding is that they WANT to see you losing weight because it means that you are adopting the lifestyle changes that will make you more successful before and after surgery. Also, you are less likely to have surgery related complications if you can lose weight prior.
I wouldnt worry about losing weight once you are in the program. You SHOULD be trying to change your lifestyle, eating habits, exercise patterns, etc. As a result of that, the expectation is that you would likely lose weight as a result. I don't think it would disqualify you from the program. :)
