I should look into that; I added a tiny bit of rum extract to my eggnog flavored protein powder around Christmas and it really tasted like "real" eggnog...the right extracts can make a huge difference.

Totally off topic, but speaking of Germans...
One of the funniest moments of my life was when I was living in Germany 27-28 years ago. I worked at the PX...and we had quite a few German citizens that worked there. One day in the break room, two of my German coworkers were there as well. They'd been conversing in German, of course. They started speaking English to include me ( which was very nice of them), but after a while went back to talking amongst themselves-in English. They seemed to realize it-and switched back to German. I don't know why, but I still just find that hilarious.
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...

My favorite thing about Germans is that if you ask if they speak English, they will say, "Oh yes, a little bit" and then you ask them (slowly) "Do you know where the train station is" and their response is like "Well, yes, if you go along approximately a kilometer, you will come to a low stone fence by a church, bear left and go another half kilometer and when you see a low treeline, take a right..." and on and on...they are so modest about their English and it's always impeccable!

SO, true.
"What you eat in private, you wear in public." --- Kat
I think it's something that you need to grow up with in order to like it. When you taste it as an adult it's not palatable.
Same thing with pop tarts. When DH had me taste one I genuinely asked him "do you willingly eat this?" He said it was his favorite breakfast growing up!

TOTALLY!!! Oh my god, just that ornage powder.
DD loves Mac and cheese - I have failed as an Italian mother. I tried making it home made but she wanted the boxed ones. So I bought the TJ ones hoping it would be healthier. The day she got her driver's license the first thing she did was to stop by super market and buy 2 boxes of Kraft Mac and cheese - according to her the oranger the better!!! To this day it's her comfort food. My poor grandma is trembling in her grave.

Sheila - did you see the news story today that Costco has completely sold out of its 26 pounds tubs of mac and cheese that are rated with a shelf life of 18 years?

WTH? Just looked it up. Few questions/thoughts:
- why food in a tub? I feel like a horse eating out of a tub.
- I understand it's for doomsday, but can we have just cans of beans instead of this monstrosity?
- I guess in a real doomsday scenario I will either taste it or maybe just prefer to die.
- Only in America Mac & cheese becomes a doomsday food to store for 20 years. I wonder what's in it that can last this long.
Have you read "Life as we knew it"? It's a YA dooms day story. Since then - DD was in jr high reading it, so 6-7 years ago, every time I go to the store I make a mental note what I need to grab in case of a dooms day scenario. Thankfully Mac & cheese is not one of them.
