Happy Friday Protein Peeps! Its photo Friday, if you have a pic/pics you want to share please do and tell us about the photo.
What are you all up to this weekend? We have a full weekend booked, will see if we actually get around to it all!
Accountability: spot on! No BLT's (Bites, Licks or tastes) was on plan yesterday.
QOTD: Let's talk about coping mechanisms and post op life. How or what do you do now to deal with stress post op? I won't assume that all of you used food pre op to deal with stress but I know I did. Bad day at work=eat, fight/argue with someone=eat, get some bad news=eat, got a migraine=eat. My go to foods pre op was anything sugary, candy or birthday cake, my beloved birthday cake None of those stresses have gone away just because I had RNY surgery. If anything due to life being life I think I have MORE stress now than I did five years ago. But now I can no longer can use all that food to soothe my stress. So what do I do now? I go to therapy, when food cravings get out of control for me I drink extra liquids, I go to the gym and hit the treadmill with some awesome music and sweat it out and lastly I spend a lot of time outdoors with my hubby and the dogs. Its not freaking easy! Every fibre of my being wants SUGAR when the going gets tough and over the last five years I am not saying that I haven't given in a few times but man its just not worth it. I didn't get my insides rearranged and eat boring tuna everyday so that I can go back to being MO!!

Good Morning Daisey and Menu folks!
I have zero plans this weekend and I am so happy about that! I plan on spending at least an hour filling a box of things to donate... trying to declutter our lives of things we don't use. Hoping to get to the gym even with all the resoluters.
QOTD: I guess I am lucky not to have a lot of stressors in my life. When feeling stressed or anxious I take walks or talk to my DH about what is going on. He is a great sounding board and gets it.

LOVE his suit and wish I had one! Also how was Longwood? I didn't get there this year but it is always wonderful! Did you also go to Herr's?

Longwood was beautiful! I forgot my phone in the car and didn't get a single picture. It never disappoints. We did drive through Herr's too. Gorgeous, the placement of the lights on the trees there always amazes me.

Morning Daisy and menu folks! We made it to Friday! I'm working from home today but I woke up this morning even before my alarm would have gone off on a day when I commute! Argh! I resisted the urge to get up and just snuggled under the covers and pet my snuggle bear, Audie Cat.
Here's a picture of him on NYE, sleeping in the New Year!
Here is a pic from a few minutes later when he was joined by the jealous Purl...
And here is DW waving in the New Year:
See! this is the crazy lifestyle we lead!
Anyway, I have a heavy workout in the gym with my trainer today. With the holiday, my schedule has been out of whack but I've still done at least 2 sessions with him each week plus cardio. Since I started with him in July, I've been doing one in gym one hour session (Friday) and one half hour cyber session (Wednesday) each week. He also has a Monday evening class and I'm debating whether to make that a regular thing too. There are 3-4 hard core regulars who are there every week and they are very serious about putting in a good workout, not just for social value... I've not been totally consistent with doing strength training on Mondays on my own, so it would be a good motivation.
Menu:
B1: Coffee!
B2: ham, HB egg
S: Chomps?
L1: TJ's chicken sausage
L2: smoked salmon
S: protein shake
D: planning on steamed shrimp, but I'm hungry for a crab cake!
Exercise: an hour with the trainer
