I will have to wait and see what this is when it arrives. I mean, when I step on it, how can it know my composition? What part of my weight is bone vs. muscle vs. fat? Am I supposed to preload in numbers? That would mean another dexa scan and I'm too embarrassed to do one right now. Ugh.

PS I love love love practical gifts. Flowers and jewelry are lovely, but get me a knife set for cooking or a cutting board and I'm yours forever lol!

When I first got mine I didn't have to load any detailed information other than height, age, gender (I think that was it). Technology is amazing but I don't know how they do it either.

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!

Hmmm- we already have three scales, but none do body fat, which I'm always curious about. Hmmmm...

That sounds very cool! I don't know how they do it either: either sci-fi or some type of enchantment? I'm going to pick one up, and soon will have a DEXA scan too, so I can compare. Thanks for the link, Em!

The sensors read the impedance of your body. The ones the doctor has attach to you foot and hand so it is reading both your upper and lower body resistance. The scale reads your lower body and doubles the measurement, so is slightly less accurate. But when I compared my scale readings to the doctors they were really close. The NP was impressed with the readings. It's just another tool in our arsenal. Plus fun to look at. Mine gives weight, BMI, Body Fat, Fat Free Body Weight, Subcutaneous Fat, Visceral Fat, Body Water, Skeletal Muscle, Muscle Mass, Bone Mass, Protein, BMR and Metabolic Age.
