What's on your Thursday menu today RNYers?

I feel like I'm still learning every day! The nice thing about these boards is that they go back so far; I sometimes will randomly read some older posts or search on a specific topic; it helps to know that nothing I'm thinking/experiencing is all that unique, lol, and there's great thoughts and support from everyone here!

I've been trying to get to OH the last couple of days but haven't even made it through reading posts until today.
My work has been super stressful lately, and I found an app to help. It's called Let's Meditate, it's free and yesterday when I was feeling really scattered I did a short 5 minute one called Ease Urgencies and it really worked. I did it at my desk and afterwards I felt much calmer and able to focus on what I needed to get done. Now if my food choices were as easy I'd be doing well.
QOTD- I have no regrets about the surgery. I wish I had done it 20 years ago. However it is difficult to shop for fresh veggies because I can't eat that much so they go to waste. I'm still 40lbs from my goal, I've been kind of stalled due to my own poor choices. But I am determined to get there.
Happy Friday Eve everyone! Have a great day!

Hi Julia, sorry to hear that your work has been so stressful, that is horrible. Since most people spend at a minimum of 40 hours at work each week the last thing we need is it to be stressful! UGH!! Hugs
Great idea on the Meditate app, especially since it worked for you! Getting up and away from your desk/office even for 10-15 minutes is key as well. Go grab a coffee/tea, go visit a co worker and answer their question in person instead of an email/voice mail. Hell go to the bathroom with your phone and take five minutes and look at FB/IG/OH, trust me I have done that before!!!!
I agree with you 100% that it is so hard to shop for a single person!! Can I make a suggestion? Do you like salads? (I love salads!) But I find lettuce lasts a long time in the fridge and that is the one veggie I get a lot because I know it will last. My hubby is not a salad person so its only me eating it and if you buy one of those bag of lettuce's and had a salad each day you would go through it in one week. And canned veggies and frozen veggies have come a long way from way back when. Especially frozen, you can take out what you want for that day and keep the rest frozen! You know what I don't eat, fresh fruit. I never have room for it after I eat my protein & veggies, so fruit goes to waste in our house. #firstworldproblems
I hope you realize that there is no more time for excuses and poor choices. Get back on track and get to goal. You will thank yourself in a year from now when your malabsorption is gone and you are at goal and eating protein forward just becomes a way of life. You can do it Julia, look how far you have come, you got this!!!
Good morning
QOTD: I am feeling excited about getting the surgery. A bit nervous, too. Getting better about listening to my body even when I would rather not!
B: leftover meatballs
L: Chicken & veg soup
S: Avocado
D: Tuna with green salad

How exciting! And the nerves are completely normal too. It's a big change for certain and completely new territory especially if you've been heavy all of your life like I was. We're glad to see you here and look forward to seeing your progress and many successes. Visiting and posting here has been crucial accountability for me and when I took a hiatus when traveling a few months ago I quickly gained weight. Now it's coming off slowly and I am here to stay!

Hi Laura, WELCOME!
We get lots of pre ops who come here and post their menus even though they have not had surgery and I find a lot of those people are very successful because they learn so much from the other menu posters and from the Vets that by the time surgery comes along they are so prepared & educated. Great job on listening to your body, that is hard in any cir****tance let alone preparing for a major surgery!
Nerves are 100% normal! Even though my surgery was a little over 5 years ago I remember like it was yesterday the drive with my husband at 4am (I had an early morning surgery time) to go to the hospital and him asking me if I was ready and I was like "I think so..." Now I am sure you see many of us saying we wish we did it years before we did.
Please join us when you can on the menu thread, ask questions, meet people, reach out if you need support, we were all newbies once!!
And please don't get discouraged or beat yourself up if you make a "mistake" as a pre op. You are human and until you get your insides rearranged being pre op is a world of difference than fresh post op. Another thing I want to mention and this is just my opinion... don't try and restrict your calories super low as a pre op, that is really hard and will just lead you to being so damn hungry you make bad food choices, I have seen it here on OH happen with some pre ops.
Hope you stick around!

Hello my RnY buddies! Happy Thursday! Thank you Daisy for starting us out. I would love to see your labs frolicking in the snow!
Feeling a bit down and more than a bit overwhelmed here, but I am trusting that I will be ok. At least I'm not reacting to life by overeating, which is a genuine win in my world.
QOTD: I am 18.5 months post-op. This surgery has given me my life back, and I mean that with utter sincerity. I am so incredibly grateful that I had it. I now do wish I had had it earlier in my life, instead of suffering and struggling up and down and up over and over for so long. I have lost 221.6 pounds thanks to my RnY and my gifted, amazing surgeon, Dr. Helmuth Billy. Life is infinitely better at 132 pounds than it was at 353.6! In this respect, I feel very, very lucky.
First: several big mugs of tea
B: shrimp; cheese; Greek yogurt
L: ham
D: chicken
Have a wonderful, happy and wise day, everyone! Sending each and every one of you love.
I noticed today when I made a huge cup of hot tea that it makes me feel full. I'm definitely going to be drinking a lot more hot tea now!
