What's on your Thursday menu today RNYers?
Thanks Daisy. Yes, I'm fully aware that staying at a healthy weight will continue to get harder. That's exactly why when the scale went over 120 (my goal weight is 125), I decided to pay attention and get rid of it. I didn't want to wait until I was at 130 or more.
I always appreciate your input!

Mornin' All!
yesterday started my long stretch of back to basics eating. Too many "bad" days the last couple of weeks, and the scale shows it. But I did well yesterday and I had a slight drop in weight as of this morning. YAY! Not much happening this month, so I should be able to drop below 150 again as long as I don't stray.
my gym and yoga studio are back to their regular schedules as of yesterday. Halleleujah. I plan on going to my Zumba Gold class later this morning. It's a low impact class geared toward seniors, but almost everyone in there appears to be in their 50s or 60s - so not too "senior". I *love* that class! Other than a few errands, there's not much else on the agenda for today.
QOTD: I'm 3 years 7 months out today! I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I've said many times that I should have done this years ago, but then again, I think it's really important to be in the right mindset for this, and I'm not sure I would have been there 10 or 20 years ago. So it's probably just as well that I waited. I agree with Liz that a lot of my success is due to OH....and this menu thread in particular. I'm never leaving!!
3 years 7 months out:
B: coffee with half & half, homemade Greek yogurt with homemade blueberry sauce
MS: protein shake (I'm thinking about doing something with cranberries - maybe a chocolate shake with a handful of frozen cranberries thrown in?)
L: homemade cottage cheese
AS: if needed, one of the following: light yogurt, a piece of crustless protein pumpkin pie, protein pudding, or baby carrots with hummus
D: small piece of lasagna, 1/2 C broccoli salad

Hi Trish, Happy New Year
Good for you for getting back to basics. When I have time to read the menu thread I see you posting almost daily about your little bit of gain and how hard you are fighting to get it back off. I am assuming that at 3 1/2 yrs plus you have figured out what your issue is. I know what I believe it is and you and I disagree, but I believe its your calories and what you are specifically eating. I am not saying this to be *****y or condescending, the exact opposite!!!! I know when I eat carbs or go above the calories that will take my body out of maintenance not only do I get bloated and swollen but I gain weight. I am unfortunately one of the people here on OH that can't go above 1000 calories a day or I gain, I hate it, but it is what it is. I am not saying you are not salt/sodium sensitive but you know that expression "the definition of xxx is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." If salt is your issue why are you not avoiding it like the plague? Again I am not trying to tear you down or insult you, I believe you have been very successful and it appears to me that you are frustrated with the gain and blame salt but don't seem to avoid salty foods that cause you all this discomfort. Just offering my two cents, love me or hate me I just needed to share my thoughts.
I agree with you 100% that a person needs to be in the right mindset to have WLS. For sure we have all seen some newbies who JUST.DON'T.GET.IT. You get it and that is why you have been so successful. This post op WLS life (in my opinion) is more about the mental aspect than the physical aspect. I can eat like a robot, weigh/measure my food, use MFP but if my MIND tells me its okay to eat a chocolate bar for breakfast its doesn't really matter if I weigh or measure. If I eat by my emotions then I get in trouble. So ya, mindset is so key to being successful.
I see you are having lasagna for dinner, I am so jealous! Man do I miss Italian food - pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, all the good stuff!
I've been hovering around 150 for a long time (several months, anyway). My body seems to have settled here after hitting a low of 138, which lasted all of five minutes. I'm OK with it. It's within my normal BMI range, and as long as I stay within q 1500-1700 kcal range, it's not that hard to keep it there. The problem lately is all the holiday eating. Too many goodies and too much eating out (like...almost every day going out). I was pretty consistently eating over my range and God knows how much sodium I was getting since I wasn't the one doing the cooking. And I've always been very salt sensitive.
150 is my top limit and I spring into action when my weight creeps over that. I was 152 this morning, so I don't have too far to go. I can't do sub-1000 calories anymore - and I wouldn't really need to unless I wanted to weigh like 130 lbs, which I really don't - I'm comfortable where I am. I just need to stay within the range - which isn't too difficult now that our company is gone and we're back to our normal eating routine.
I appreciate you taking the time to give me feedback, but I know what I need to do to maintain my weight. I just got off track too often the last couple of weeks - thus, the gain.
Good morning, everybody. This stubby little week is rolling along. Today is day three of life without cream. Marilyn is going to take the Christmas tree down today. I will miss it, but its time. The light service will probably come and take away the outdoor lights shortly, but we aren't going to push them to do so. A few more days would be nice.
QOTD: Two questions today and I don't have much on either of them. Cooking wise I am very boring. If there is leftover meat in the refrigerator I microwave it. Very happy to have had surgery. Only real downside has been gout attacks in my knees from the release of all the uric acid that was stored in my fat cells. That is temporary, though. I find I don't get as many discussions at work about my weight as i expected (dreaded), perhaps because I am one of the bosses.
Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese
Snack: Protein bar
Lunch: Tuna creations
Snack: Jerky
Dinner: Chicken
Have a great day all.

Hey Greateight, how are you?
I laughed at the "stubby little week," it is that isn't it!
How goes the no cream? I can take or leave cream (assuming you mean in your coffee/tea?) Pre surgery I was a full on double cream, double sugar in my coffee. Now I use Vanilla Premier Protein in my decaf coffee as a cream replacement. I can't stand PP on its own, its WAY to sweet, but in a coffee its yummy! Some people use the chocolate PP in their coffee and says it tastes like a mocha coffee.
Never thought to use a service to put up/take down our Xmas lights, brilliant! I make my poor hubby do it, I am not telling him there is a service that does it LOL LOL
Sorry to hear about the knee gout, man that sounds painful! I hope that has resolved itself.
I can understand with you being the "Boss" that your team might not be comfortable talking about your weight loss. I also think it has a lot to do with whatever industry you work in and how close you (you being the general public) are to your Boss. I have a female boss and we are very close and we both have commented about each other's appearance weight loss over the years.
Awesome menu! Keep up the great work, I see you are so incredibly close to your goal weight, I am sure you will surpass that! Congrats on all your hard work!!!
Hi Daisy - did you see the video where they tried to pose the Texas bull with the Georgia Bulldog? The bull saw the bulldog and decided that he was going to flip him up in the air with his horns. The bulldog was way too smart (also smarter than whoever at the TV network thought they would pose together) for that and skedadaddled, so the bull ended up knocking over a couple of people and a table.

Glad to see you start us off Daisy! Give Amy and Oliver some love from Miss Lily and I! We already have our 4 miles in this morning and will do another mile before supper. Accountability was great yesterday with over 100 ounces of liquids, over 10,000 steps and only one coffee with creamer. Weight today is 125.4. Slowly headed back down! QOTD I am about 61/2 years post surgery. I got below goal and kept all my weight off until 4 months ago when I regained 12 pounds by eating out too much, not posting here and not controlling my portion sizes. Accountability here is crucial for me and stepping on that scale every single day whether I like the number or not.. I am working--and newbies,it is HARD work--on that regain and am 5.4 pounds away from the 120 which I'd like to be. As long as I focus, measure my food and make good choices I know I can get there. I am totally thankful for my surgery every single day. The 273 pound Karen had constant knee and back pain, high cholesterol, diabetes and uncontrolled high blood pressure. She was missing out on life and could not even imagine being able to feel comfortable standing on high ladders to paint, taking and passing a concealed carry class, ziplining,or slithering behind a toilet to paint trim. Or even having the energy to do these things. Life is so much more fun now! No pain and I can do anything I set my mind to do! Heres the food plan B 2/3 c earnest eats apple crush hot cereal L 1 slice turkey 1 slice cheese 3 grape tomatoes D 1 c chili with cheese. Have a great day full of smart choices!
You are doing so great Karen in losing the regain. As always you inspire us all!
