Redistribution of remaining fat?

Hi all! I've read a few archived posts about this, but wondered what those of you *****ached a low weight some time ago have experienced as far as any weight/fat redistribution over time. I'm not talking about weight gain on the scale or the intervention of plastics, but rather, a naturally occurring redistribution to areas of your body which may have become too thin or too bony. My ribs are really showing, and I would prefer them not to be quite so visible. I do not want to gain, as I feel really good and slinky at this weight, but it would look better if I didn't have quite such a xylophone appearance around my ribs. Is it likely that will smooth out, without gaining weight?

Even though I did have plastics I will tell you there is absolutely a redistribution that had nothing to do with that.

Can't promise it will be your ribcage but I do get what you mean. I think ribcage and collarbone is where I noticed it the most.

Then there is redistribution that you don't necessarily want either, at 4+ years out and even post plastics I have become more hippy again. Same clothes fit, just differently.

I find that interesting. My legs, thighs and derierre have significantly altered shape. Even when I was in the low 120s and in my 20s, I had some saddlebags and comparatively curvy thighs and derierre. Now these are all much leaner, straighter up-and-down, much less curvy. (This change occurred very early in my post-op process, during a 3-day period of very intense physical activity coupled with sleep deprivation. All of a sudden afterwards, I could wear my old boots pulled up on my calves, instead of having to cuff them down due to fit issues.)

Have your ribcage and collar bones become less prominent as time has passed? I really hope that my clavicles, shoulders and ribs will become a little smoother and less bony in time. I guess what will happen, if anything, will happen as far as my lower body is concerned - my job will be to work on holding steady in maintenance. Thanks for your comment.

i did gain between year 2-3. and I got my hips, thunder thighs and butt back. The weight training has helped with that also.

Sadly enough I have always had the thunder thighs, I look back at pictures of me at 18 and 135lbs and lo and behold there they are. I'm afraid genetics are not in my favor.

We are too critical of our bodies. Guys by and large don't do that to themselves, or at any rate, they don't do it as much as women do. I've always been right in there too with the physical self-criticism, but am trying to be more accepting of myself. We can never achieve perfection - whatever that is! When I was in my early 20s I actually had the focused intention of looking "perfect". This led to all sorts of unwise dietary practices and experiments. Now I'm just so happy to be able to walk for miles, exercise, and wear pretty clothes and shoes! The pursuit of physical perfection is, for me, far in the past. I acknowledge i will never get there, it's like trying to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - largely mythical! And beauty is a spectrum largely centered in the heart.

I haven't done any weight training yet, but will. I don't know if it will help my bony ribs and shoulders, but maybe!

I have those boney ribs, shoulders and collarbone as well. I also lost my boobs big time. I went from a 46D to a 32A. So now my whole upper torso looks anorexic and yet my abdomen still has some fat down the front also excess skin.

All in all, I like my look but the boniness of my chest etc., does bother me at times. Just like you can't spot reduce with exercise you can't spot gain either.

I do work out and since I've hit my goal my trainer has rejigged my workout to focus on building muscle and strength as opposed to a weight loss regime. I'm hoping, over time, that with some newfound muscle I won't appear to be so boney.

I certainly didn't think I'd ever be worried about being boney. That has always been the last thing on my mind. LOL

Yes, I'm definitely in a similar place. My bra size went from a 46G to a 30 DD. At least I'm estimating that's my new size - I have to go buy some new bras. My last ones are a few months old now and have become way too big. I'm going to try the Fantasie underwire balconette bra a friend who lost a lot of weight up top recommended, and I hope it looks ok. The last ones I got were Wacoal and they worked well at first, but I just kept shrinking until now they no longer do a good job. I am hopeful there will be some redistribution of fat to give my ribs and shoulders a less gaunt appearance. Until then I have started feeling more comfortable wearing scarves and turtlenecks! But I am thrilled overall with my loss, and basically happy with my appearance. I was thin in my early 20s - in the low 120s - and in photos from that era i can see my ribs as well, but I was so much younger and had a more cushiony appearance despite being a similar weight to now. I look forward to having plastics!
