Hello my RnY friends! Happy December 23!
I find this time of year to be so beautiful, yet so poignant. I miss my mom, who died on December 20 several years ago, and I also really miss my dad.
Today I will wrap presents. Unlike some of you, I really enjoy wrapping gifts and making them as beautiful as possible. I don't have an overwhelming number of things to wrap, so it will remain a pleasurable activity for me today. I also am going to run down to Ulta (much closer to me than Sephora) to pick up a new lipstick for myself (Lancome's Red Stiletto- it's beautiful, very wearable, and a lovely formula) and one more gift for my DIL (Urban Decay's Naked Cherry eyeshadow palette - I can't wear those hues around my eyes. They would make me look like I'd been in a fist fight and had not emerged the winner, but Kim will look gorgeous in them).
Tomorrow I'll prepare appetizers (seafood and other dips, crackers, and a cheese and olive plate). and drive down to Kim's Grandmother's spectacular house for Christmas Eve. When I get back, I will go to midnight mass. When I was growing up, we never ate meat other than seafood on Christmas Eve, and I will stick to that if possible - Kim's family is Episcopalian, and they most likely do not abide by that Catholic European tradition, so I don't know what dinner will be.
I weighed in at 132.0 pounds this morning! I still would like to hit 127 for it's safety net appeal, and will keep on keeping on. I have added in an additional few calories over the past week or so, and now allow myself to have 700 instead of 650, which feels very satisfying and luxurious. Some days I find can't eat that much, but it's nice to have the option. I'm not going to take a scale with me for Chrismastime feasting, but I will be aware and mindful.
I had to reschedule my Dexa scan, as I didn't want to drive during the crazy storm we had earlier this week.
Do you guys like Zappos.com? I just bought myself a pair of beautiful Anne Klein pumps which are coming tomorrow. The heels are 3.5" - pretty but still very comfortable to walk in. Normally I'm in an 8, but for once (a rarity), that size was way too roomy. I exchanged them for a 7.5, and not only did they rush the shipment so that it will arrive tomorrow, but they gave me two random $15 credits just for the heck of it, to boot. Plus, they refunded my original money as soon as the return shipping label was scanned in at the UPS store. Their customer service really is second to none!
QOTD: I usually opt for playing favorite Christmas old CDs instead of streaming - I embrace the past at this time of year particularly. I have several old Christmas albums i like to play: Vince Guaraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas; James Taylor's At Christmas; Hymns, Carols, and Songs About Snow by Tuck Andress; those old Manheim Steamroller and Wyndam Hill Christmas albums, Loreena McKennitt, Nat King Cole, etc. There are many more - those are off the top of my head. I am also very fond of early music, and have many beautiful recordings of ancient carols, both a capella and with early instruments.
First: several mugs of tea, with Salted Caramel syrup - wow is all I can say!
B: top round roast, Sartori Bellavitano espresso cheese
L: tuna
D: more top round roast
Wishing every single one of you a tender, beautiful, and heartfelt day.
