how long does the surgical pain last?
I was more or less pain free by day 7, just maybe felt like I'd done too many crunches if I moved in certain ways. If it seems concerning, never hesitate to reach out to your doctor

You might want to follow up with your care provider; everyone's pain/pain thresholds/approach to pain meds are different so "normal' is hard to gauge. One person could be fine and off narcotics by day 3 but someone else might not.

I had one port that hurt for a couple of weeks, but I was able to switch to tylenol by day 5. Maybe a few more days only at bedtime. Assess your pain threshold - do you typically not tolerate much pain? If this is that bad - in a day or two - call the doctor on Friday morning.

I agree that pain certainly varies for each person and that you should probably talk to your doctor.
That said, is it pain at your incision or is it gas pain. If you had lap surgery, they fill you with gas that takes a long time to ease. Also since you aren't eating anything, getting your bowels moving again can be a real job. Be sure that you are sipping constantly to get in as much fluid as possible. Also frequent, gentle, short walks will help to move the gas. Very common.
And finally, what are you doing? Are you resting, sleeping or are you bored and moving around? It is important to walk regularly to move the gas and circulation but otherwise you should be resting and not trying to bend, lift, do housework.
Hang in there. This time will pass and you will start feeling better soon.

I have a high pain threshold so I only took 1 pain pill after surgery. The large incision on my left would hurt with certain movements but it was tolerable. Everyone is different, for me the gas pain was the worst it was in my neck and shoulders and felt like it took forever to go away, but in reality it was just a few days. I would take the advice given and contact your surgeon or WLS clinic.
I hope you are feeling better soon!

I could manage my pain with just tylenol during the day on day 9 or 10. I needed stronger stuff so I could sleep. I was driving app 9 days after surgery. And since I was allergic to narco, I used much weaker pain meds.
I know I drove to follow up appointment with my doctor 7 days after I was released from hospital.
