Havent been on here in some time. To be honest I miss seeing the daily menu and getting ideas. 15 months post op and had labs drawn by my primary provider today. I am still off all prescribed medications for diabetes and hypertension, havent used my cpap machine in almost a year! A1c is still dropping and is at 5.5, my liver enzymes are back to normal and no longer have a fatty liver. Unfortunately I am anemic now and suffer from some terrible constipation. He even gave me the ok to start trying to get pregnant!

Congrats on your success! So awesome that you can start trying for a baby. I do hope they can get your iron numbers up. To combat constipation I am a daily miralax taker (okay'd by my surgeon and PCP.). Keep checking in!

He started me on ferrous sulfate with vitamin c, Metamucil, and miralax. My dream has always been to become a mom!

Good to see you again and hear that you are doing fairly well. Talk to your doctor about the anemia. It looks like you need to either supplement heavily or infusions (those with RNY know better). But good luck on getting pregnant. So exciting!

Ferrous sulfate- gave me horrible stomach aches. Very common with prescribed irons, beware.

I found ferrous sulfate to be incredibly constipating. I take Heme Iron (brand: Proferrin), which absorbs better, causes less GI distress, and doesn't interact with other vitamins or medicines; however, it does cost more.

Ny weight management doctor has me take ferrous fumerate. They said it gives better absorption. I use Hema-plex and it doesn't bother my stomach at all. I also use miralax since it's the large amount of protein that plugs me up.
