What's on your TUESDAY Menu, RNYers?
Mornin'!
I agree with the comments about stress and JB's job. I put up with that once early in my career and ended up sticking it out a couple more years. In retrospect, I should have left much earlier than I did. I don't ever want to be in a high-stress situation like that again - not worth it (at least for me!!).
not much on the agenda today. I have to take one of the cats to the vet (annual physical - although his weight has been trending downward which worries me). Then meeting a new friend at her yoga studio at 4:00. I need to start prepping for the holidays again, though - which leads me to:
QOTD: UGH! Pretty much everyone! Except for my 21-year-old niece, we're all middle-aged or older. No one wants or needs anything, and they are very unhelpful when I ask them what they want/need. Answer: "Nothing". One year we decided to just skip gifts and have a big family dinner - sort of like Thanksgiving - but the following year people started bringing gifts again, so we're back at it. Ugh.
3.5 years out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt with homemade blackberry/blueberry sauce
MS: coffee with half & half, protein shake
L: Emipie egg salad with either four whole grain crackers or a Flat Out wrap
AS: Carbmaster yogurt with raspberries, hummus with baby carrots
D: maybe a turkey burger or some turkey meatballs
ex: yoga
I must ask... what is emipie egg salad? I have seen it on the thread several times and curious minds want to know.
You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

It's a recipe that our very own Emiepie invented. It's egg salad made with hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese instead of mayo! Cuts the calories and increases the protein! I douse it in Everything But The Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe's too although salt and pepper would work in a pinch. I never eat normal egg salad now that I have Emiepie's recipe!
Good morning, everybody. JB, I'm sorry to hear about your terrible day.
When I was on the plane back from Los Angeles last week I saw this unsettling movie, called American Animals. It was about a group of college students who for no good reason decided that they would steal a collection of art from their college library. The plan seemed to start as kind of a lark but ended up ruining their lives as well as those around them. They bound and terrorized a poor librarian who was just doing her job taking care of the collection. The students ended up in Federal prison for seven years, their families were broken up and the librarian had lasting trauma.
QOTD: Definitely my mother. And she has birthday in early January to make it even harder.
Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese
Snack: Light and fit
Lunch: Ham and cheese
Snack: Volpi
Dinner: Chili
Have a great day, all.

Good Morning! JB, it sounds like your day was horrible-I hope today is better for you.
QOTD: Probably my mother-in-law. She has lots of "stuff" and she doesn't like to leave the house much so we usually end up doing a mix of cozy socks, bath stuff and that sort of thing.

good morning everyone!
BOOO to holiday season stress! seriously.
I have been going to sleep early the last few nights which I swear helps tremendously with my stress and anxiety. Even though the evening/night time is really my only "me time" to get things done without interruption, if I don't get enough sleep, I have a much harder time coping.
The whole furnace thing probably would've put me into an OCD-induced panic attack and I would've been frantically trying to clean everything and organize everything and then panicking about not being able to do it all at once...instead I called Dad, got it figured out, and the HVAC guys are coming TODAY to install the new furnace. hopefully I will be nice and toasty tonight without having to wear 2 layers of pajamas, a hoodie and slippers to bed!
QOTD: my Dad is by far the hardest person to shop for. He very rarely actually likes anything that he hasn't specifically asked for, and most of the things he wants he just gets for himself unless they are super expensive, so either ALL of us kids have to go together to get him the one thing he really wants, or we just have to guess at something he might like and hope for the best!
this year, he is getting a painting (to share with my mom) and a family photo of us. He knows we are short on money, since we obviously had to borrow it from him for the furnace...I know he doesn't care about the presents, but I still feel kind of terrible when I know my siblings are spending big bucks and I have very little to spend.
B: coffee w/half vanilla PP shake / greek L&F yogurt
L: last of the curry chicken meatballs w/cauliflower rice
S: small gala apple/2 turkey sausage links
D: turkey taco salad!
have a wonderful day everyone!
