Oh that's disappointing but your logic seems fantastic...and good for the nurse for being so open with you.

Your financial planning comment is spot on. I was lucky enough when I was 20 to be working for a leader who walked into my office and walked me to the 401K planning session -- even though I wasn't 21 yet and couldn't contribute. It really drove home how starting early can be so very very helpful.

I agree! I didn't get started until I was in my 30s - which is actually pretty good compared to most people - but I would have been much further ahead if I'd have started in my 20s. A few years can make an *enormous* difference!

I am so sorry about your surgery. That must have been quite a shock. I hope that things work out so that you can have your surgery soon

edited to add - I agree about the financial planning. I grew up with sound advice but set it aside after I married young. Now I am in my late 30s and rebuilding credit ruined during a traditional marriage with my head in the sand and a very unwise "it will never happen to me" attitude. I hope young women are much wiser these days (and young men!)

Happy Monday everyone!

I had such a great weekend, I had no real plans to go anywhere but I had a lot of things I wanted to get done so I feel good today, knowing I accomplished a lot of stuff and got to unload some of that stress...

Our furnace, unfortunately STILL is not working properly, after having the HVAC guys out again Saturday evening...3 visits and $700 later, we have had 4 parts and the thermostat replaced and it is still not doing anything to warm our house...basically their suggestion was that if this didn't work, we will probably need to replace the whole unit considering it is like 20 years old...and this of course right before Christmas and after we have already depleted our entire savings acct. UGH...So, a very humbling call to the bank of Dad had me in tears and very grateful that my parents are in a financial situation that they can help us out. it sucks but it is what it is! We already have 3 space heaters running constantly which is just not energy efficient.

I finished my first acrylic "pour" painting that I am giving my parents for Christmas and it turned out pretty cool...I was trying to get a feel of the gradient rock structures in the Az desert...I don't know if I succeeded but the colors look cool and the overall finished product is pretty to look at. I'll attach a pic.

Story and I also baked some Salt dough ornaments yesterday so we can paint them this week and give them out as gifts. She loves making crafts and baking, so it was a perfect Sunday activity.

AND for those of you interested, I finally got around to filming my first "makeup tutorial" video and created a YouTube channel...If it lets me post the link... https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=share&v=d876KqHpn6U
hope that works.!
I hope to be able to continue making them but my time is sparse and I had about a 20 minute window yesterday morning when I woke up before everyone else in the house LOL.

QOTD: I know my favorite things when I was in college were getting little care package type things, like others have suggested...a box with household items, scented body soaps, slippers, PJ's, etc. Also if they like reading, books are always great! someone gave me a copy of James Redfield's "The Celestine Prophecy" when I was starting college and it seriously changed my entire outlook on life. I have since gifted that book to at least 10 other young people as graduation gifts!

B: coffee w/half vanilla PP as creamer- need to boost my protein!, greek L&F yogurt
L: leftover curry chicken meatballs w/cauliflower rice
S: small gala apple, 2 turkey meat sticks
D: leftover turkey italian sausage/spaghetti squash bake

have a great day everyone!

Messy but cool!

WOW, your "pour" painting is gorgeous! What a truly incredible one-of-a-kind gift!

The Bank of Mom and Dad have helped me through tough times too...I am sure they are happy to help make sure you and your hubs and Story have heat. I'm sorry you're having so many unexpected expenses in December. That sucks.
