What's on your Sunday menu RNYers?
Hey everyone! I'm around, just busy with work. Project #1 which has been years in the making is in data conversion stage and I'm pleased as peach to say my department was 100 prepared. Dust won't settle til we've successfully issued a pay from this new system, and that's a few weeks away. In the interim I've got 3 other major projects pending. I likely won't have a sense of peace until February. Today my son has a piano recital, then lots of rest. I ran 9+ miles today after wearing not so cooperative boots last night and my left ankle is not happy with me.
Last night hubby and I went to a production of the Color Purple. It was excellent, especially considering I was never really fond of the movie...I finally get it now. Some days I feel like all I see is size. Watching the various performers I was evaluating thier size and wondering how comfortable they felt In their skin. I'm sure I would have been similar if I were still SMO- it then i'd Have been wishing I could look like one of them.
Qotd: canned soup is blasphemous in my world. Ick. I make my own chicken soup. I really haven't dabbled in other type of soups, I don't eat them often enough to desire to make it. So I'd rather buy something like broccoli cheddar from Panera.

Sunday greetings, RnYers!
Janet, thanks for the launch. I'm glad that you just got cozy and rested yesterday - as my mom would have said, you must have needed it. I hope that a good part of today is also cozy and restful.
It's dark and rainy again up here close to the Canadian border. The darkness is strange to me, and I will have to get used to it. I've never lived anywhere where the light in the daytime was routinely this dim. Luckily there are some breakthrough gorgeous, sparkling, sunny days!
I weighed in at 132.0 this morning! Yay! I feel so good, so slinky, and so happy to be in the low 130s. I really must work hard and remain vigilant, doing everything I need to do to remain here - I feel that this weight is perfect for me.
Yesterday evening I misunderstood when the neighborhood party was starting, and arrived a little after 8, which was when I thought it started. I was too late - it ended then! So I covered my mistake and just offered to help clean up anyway. I should have known the community club on this sleepy island full of retirees wouldn't have done anything so daring and nocturnal as to start a party at 8. Oh well! It's at times like that that I feel that maybe, just maybe, I don't belong here! Seattle, of course, is much more active. But it rains considerably more! Something to consider for the future, anyway.
QOTD: I love soups, chili and stews, but since I live alone I don't cook very much. I love preparing good food for others, but I often find it a bit boring when there's just me. I like Progresso Italian Wedding soup. I like a good, flavorful mushroom soup. I also really like a good, savory back bean soup with lemon. And I like rich beef soups with vegetables. This is a stew rather than a soup, but I have been thinking about making up some boeuf bourguinon - I really love that, and love using my beautiful Le Creuset pots. I also especially love a good bouillabaisse! Yum!
First: several mugs of tea
B: tuna, and some Bellavitano Kentucky Bourbon cheese (very good)
L: eggs with chives and dehydrated onions
D: chicken
Wishing you all a lovely Sunday!

I have enjoyed reading everyone's responses and memories involving soup. Food is community isn't it, sometimes?
I used to cook huge vats of soup, chili, etc. always with homemade bread or biscuits. It fills tummies and lasts forever. I will admit I have not been doing that since my first bariatric surgery though. I am finally starting to cook more again but it just feels different. I can often find a good quality soup in the stores and frankly since bariatric surgery I grapple with the question - is soup a liquid or a solid? (I know you could sip the liquid and then eat the solids but that sort of ruins it for me lol)
My top 3 of families favorite homemade soups I used to have on rotation:
chili
lentil potato vegetable
chicken pot pie stew
This winter weather has me like blah. I just feel the cold in my bones and wish I could hibernate. I did rest more this week in preparation for everything going on this week. Maybe a bit of seasonal blahs creeping in.
QOTD- I love the question. I used to make all kinds of soup, lentil, split pea, multiple beans and any vegetable I have hanging around. My Mom made a great split pea with ham, but since I don't eat meat anymore it's not on the menu. My only problem with soups is that I end up making so much I eat it for days and get sick of it. Well this time I tried my little crock pot and made lentil soup, still too much but I was craving hot soup as the weather has been cold.
I haven't been as accountable as I should be, snack sneaking in there and way too much wine. So I'm back to basics, protein and tons of water.
Sorry I was MIA this weekend, I didn't do much. I did have to go to IKEA for a missing part and managed to buy a duvet cover, some candles and of course some champagne flutes. Hey they were pink and I couldn't resist. So my missing part cost me $89. My Seahawks didn't play until last night, so no college or NFL this weekend.
