Hi Daisy:

My reply just disappeared into cyberspace! So, I'll give it one more try!

Thank you so much for your kind words and all your support! It means a lot when I'm struggling because I don't feel like I'm doing this all alone. Best of all, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel!

You are so lucky to have 3 pups. I would love to see their pictures. I have one adopted pitbull terrier mix that I adore. He's my motivation to walk everyday and my faithful exercise partner.

Here's a picture of Jake. (I will find any excuse to post a picture of Jake. )

Its weird Joyce, some people fly through post op life without a hiccup or issue. And others have a rotten time. That's life. Although I didn't have any medical issues per se, I struggled with the lack of energy, I hated losing my hair, I got to a point one day where I was just DONE with measuring food, DONE with logging everything I ate, DONE with taking vitamins. I had a good cry and then said to myself "HEY! You are the one who decided to have WLS, pull on your big girl panties, suck it up and make it work!!" It was my attitude.

You are not alone and I think the more we all talk about the good, bad and ugly the more we can support one another. We got your back!

No on to DOGS!

First, I openly proclaim to be a crazy dog mom. I have no kids and my two Labs are my kids. I can talk all things dogs all day every day!

As for Jake, I am in love! Look at that face, and those soulful eyes. One thing that melts my heart is when they get all tucked in, curl their paws and sleep on a pillow or blanket. Give him a big old Canadian kiss from me!!!

So I have two dogs and a husband I have two British Labs, they are the shorter snout, stocky & muscular and tend to have shorter thick tails versus American Labs. My two are 9 yrs old and are the love of my life. Oliver my black Lab is my shadow, he and I are bonded extremely close and he is a total comedian and keeps me laughing all the time. Amy my chocolate Lab is much more independent, she loves nature and would prefer to be hunting critters than snuggled beside me watching Netflix. When Amy wants to snuggle Amy snuggles hard but its on her terms. Oliver wants to snuggle 24/7. See told you I am a crazy dog mom! Please don't ever hesitate to post pics of Jake, we have lots of dog people here on OH!

Here are some pics of my babes

hi all

quick one for me this time have a call starting- too much going on.

so- accountability- i saw in MFP I've gained 25 pounds since last year. I'm overall not thrilled at this and my surgeon probably won't be either. I am physically stronger than ever and trying hard to balance exercise and food and not have a 'binge' type episode. I DO want to weigh less in a few weeks when I go to see him for my 3 year checkup.

QOTD: I like to do the tree in a theme which to me means i have crap tons of different ornaments, my DH likes to be sentimental and put ornaments which don't 'fit' into the tree. We have had lots of years of 'rustic' trees with pinecones, plaid, etc. and a couple years of 'retro' trees with glass blown ornaments and 60's style decor. We are mid century in this house so wil probably be a retro year once we get our stuff from storage and put it up.

Food for today:

coffee

water

prot pancakes

mussels

unsure of dinner

would like to leave after work but the guy is coming today to install kitchen counters!!!

as you know, a 10-20 lb bounce back during year 2 is really common. Plus with all the exercise you do, a chunk of it is probably due to muscle. You're still within your normal BMI range, though. Although I know how you feel - I've gained 12 lbs since my lowest weight and have times been really sick about it - although I've (mostly) come to terms with it. As long as I can stay under 150 (and sometimes even that's a struggle), I'm somewhat OK with it. But I sure would like to back in the 130s again!!

yes i go through phases where im fine with the way I look in my clothes and muscle definition and then days where the scale number really really bothers me. I don't know why in my wacky head size 6-8 is a bad thing... probably because it isn't a 0-2-4 anymore and then I'm a failure in my eyes.

we're the same height, so your low weight of 118 was probably too low for you (I don't know what size frame you have, but mine is fairly large. There's no way I could weigh 118). The top of our BMI range is 154 - so maybe a more realistic goal is to stay under 150 (or under 140 if you have a small frame??). My PCP said 140-160 for me, given my age - although I don't want to be over 150. I think that's a pretty realistic goal, although even that's been a struggle for me lately. UGH.

and no, you're not a failure. Anyone who's managed to lose more than 70% of their excess weight and keep it off has defied the odds.

Morning all!

Joyce, love your tree! Very cute!

I came in to work earlier than usual and even at 5:15 the Metro was packed. This will be a very hectic day around here. There is even a Red Cross medical "village" for the waiting mourners...obviously well planned. Going home may be a real nightmare and I am prepared to walk to another Metro station (about a mile away) to avoid the crowds that often jam the nearest station.

Tomorrow I get a freebie day and plan to make cut out cookies with DW, do an hour of heavy lifting in the gym with my trainer and I've hired a 20-something to climb the ladder and help me clean out the gutters. I just don't like the heights and sometimes get dizzy when I climb the ladder. Don't need any broken bones!

Accountability: really struggling with wanting to only drink coffee and eat carbs. The colder weather and all of the work and family stress are certainly triggering bad habits. I keep working at getting in my protein and minimizing my carb intake. It is certainly a real struggle.

Menu:

B1: 2 oz ham

B2: scrambled eggs, 2 bites of kielbasa, 1/2 French toast stick

S: Chomps

L: fish, salad

S: salmon jerky

D: either tortilla-less fish tacos or leftover pot roast

Exercise: went to the gym at work early this morning and did a 3 mile run on the treadmill. I really pushed myself and it felt good. May do a walk at lunch.

Good idea, it's well worth it to hire somebody to do the work in the ladder.
