Good morning everyone! I am "stalling" at 4:54am while I wait for last minute sick teacher call outs this morning. I have been so sick, too (and awake since 2am) but I can't fathom calling out. It is going to be a long day.

Here is a poster one of my students made me this week to help me get my voice back and feel better:

QOTD: What is your job's sick policy? Do you get a lot of days off? Do you have to call out by a certain time of day?

Accountability: Meh. I really haven't been eating a lot because I feel so crappy, and yesterday I think I ate more cashews than anything else :( I am still eating a lot of leftover turkey though, and the dense protein is really filling. I am also trying to make time to come to OH and at least read x1/day which I have been doing--yay! The daily support and reminders have worked for the last 9.5 years, so why stop a good thing!? Gotta keep coming back

B: Coffee with Almond Milk

MS: Bacon

L: Turkey

AS: Cashews

D: Steak??

Have an AMAZING Day!

I'm so sorry you feel lousy JB. How sweet that one of the children made you a "get well" poster. I am trying hard not to get sick but I really should get the flu shot before we go home in a couple of weeks. I keep forgetting to do that.

QOTD: WELL, in retirement the sick policy is to try not to get sick, but if so do whatever is necessary to get over it (LOL). In my previous job taking sick days (which were part of the total bank of days available for vacation or for illness) was always discouraged, though not formally. So in the days when we all went to the office, people would come in and spread their germs around and many would catch it. In the last few years, people started working from home when sick (unless so miserable they just couldn't). The same thing happened with snow days - people used to put their lives in peril to come into the office, but started working from home over the last few years. But one strange phenomenon was that even if the office was closed and technically they would get paid even if they didn't work, people started working from home on those days too.

2 Years 8 months post-op (maintaining below goal for 2 years)

Always lots of coffee...

B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: deli chicken and cottage cheese

D: shrimp

S: homemade cottage cheese

Good morning,JB! So good to see you all! Hope you get to feeling better soon JB. QOTD not doing paid work now so no answer. Although when I worked at the hospital in the respiratory therapy department we had sick time but were penalized with fewer hours if we had to call in--and yes it was run by nuns. Most workers just came to work sick. Accountability was fair yesterday. I stayed out of the snacks except 1/2 c popcorn in the afternoon and switched supper to grilled nuggets from ChickFilA. Exercise wise I got about 1/2 my step goal at work but no walk with Lily because we had to run to town to get a tire as the truck had a flat and it took forever and it was dark and late when we got back. We will get a nice walk this evening as temps are warmer today. Weight today is 126.4. Heres the food plan B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter L 3 thin slices deli turkey 1 slice cheese D 4 oz of whatever protein hubby picks S string cheese and sm meat stick. Have a great day full of smart choicez everyone! Time for the first of many cups of coffee.

Good morning! Heading down to the hotel lobby for coffee and my Uber to the office, looking forward to heading home tomorrow!

JB, I hope you start to feel better, cute note form the kiddo - clear you are already making a difference for them!!

qotd - my company has two sick policies, one for salary one for hourly. Hourly, sick time is accrued per pay period and you have to call out before your scheduled start time, if out more than 3 days can't come back without a dr note. Very dark ages stuff! Our salary employees have unlimited PTO so you just have to coordinate with your leader under their rules. This leads to a lot of inconsistency. I just ask my teams to tell me when they realize so I can coordinate coverage -- but since I am very generous with my work from home options, I find people work at home when they start to feel sick -- so they recover before they get truly sick AND we don't see the whole team taken down by one big as much these days. Win win!

accountability yesterday was better, I felt more in control so that was nice! Got in a work out, fluids and vitamins too!

menu today

coffee w half and half and tea

B- L&F greek

L - half packet of salami/cheese fingers

d - half packet of salami/cheese fingers

s - L&F greek

The salami is bringing up the calories (has anyone ever see turkey wrapped cheese sticks? Or RB? I do them at home but never seen them in the wild - only the salami, prosciutto, pepperoni ones) but I'll be at 871/61/26 for the day.

not sure about workout but I will do the squats/jacks challenge (I'm up to 30 jacks in a row, lol)

happy Thursday!!

Curious about your challenge. Is it something you found or did you join a challenge? Maybe if I did something like that I wouldn't feel so guilty about not being able to go to the gym.

I have done ones that I've found online, Pinterest is great for options for body weight workouts, specific exercise challenges. This one I'm just tagging onto, peachpie had mentioned that she was doing a 100 squat/jacks (any split) everyday from thanksgiving to Christmas. I decided to do it starting this Monday since I can do it anywhere. Then I realized jumping jacks are hard so I'm working to get more jacks/less squats and a more balanced ratio. Small goals but doing 5 more jacks yesterday felt huge!!

Good Morning and Happy Friday-Eve!

Sorry, you are feeling so crummy. Feel better soon.

We took Chico to the vet last night and of course, he was so anxious and his adrenaline kicked in and he didn't limp one bit. Good news is that she couldn't find anything wrong with him. No walks or playing for 4-6 weeks, he's now taking a hip and joint supplement for older dogs and she did prescribe an anti-inflammatory for him. As soon as we walked into the house he started limping again and I am watching him hobble as I type this now. That dog.

Today I start robotics club after school. I am really wishing I didn't volunteer. But I did and I am just a helper. The club lasts into the middle of January and I am feeling guilty because it is going to cut into my gym time. However, I know the kids are going to love it!

QOTD: Our call out system is all computerized. I simply log into my account and put in a day. I get 10 sick days and 3 personal days a year. With two back-to-back surgeries, I don't have many sick days left but I have 5 personal days. I am going to try to save every day I have because I got a glimpse of the third graders this year and I am going to need to have another surgery by the time they get to fifth grade! LOL

11 months out and weight this morning was 162. While I am loving that the scale is moving again, my clothes are dwindling down because things are just looking too big and too sloppy.

M1: HB egg

M2: PP chocolate shake

M3: turkey/cheese and ham/cheese roll-ups with mustard

M4: I have tuna packet but I don't think I will have time to eat a snack between school and robotics club

M5: Chicken salad

lots of water and my vitamins

Have a great day everyone!

Hi JB! It's so great to see you here! I'm sorry you're sick and I'm sorry you can't stay home and recover. That's awful.

I work from home full-time for a tech company. That means no sick days and no snow days lol! You pretty much get online and work unless you're on your death bed. BUT no commute either. And yoga pants pretty much everyday. So I can't complain. We also have "unlimited PTO". Sounds like a dream, right? Well it can potentially be great...if you have a cool boss who doesn't mind if you take 20...22...25 days (which is how many I've had at my last job). If your boss is stingy or is the type of person who never takes time off or makes passive aggressive comments about how much time you take (I've had colleagues with all of these scenarios), well that sucks. Also, if I were to quit my job in August (for example) and had only taken 3 days off, I would not be paid out for unused time. Also, there is no chance to roll days over if you have something big planned the following year. However, overall for me it's worked out well as I have a great boss who values time away from work to unplug and recharge. Phew, sorry for long response!

Time since surgery: almost 5 years,

B: coffee with half and half and Splenda, 4 oz leftover crab mixed with mayo and Old Bay

L: Potbelly skinny turkey sandwich. I went online and did the nutrition calculator. I will pick it up after my lunchtime dentist appointment.

D: leftover Aidells habanero chicken sausage. Super filling!

S: I have a little leftover egg salad made with cottage cheese (Emiepie, you rock for making this recipe!)

E: boxing class! I love it.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!!

Funny, I was just talking to a girl at the gym about my egg salad this morning cause she hates mayo.
