AMAW/CAMAW day 3
G'morning protein warriors!
Here we are on day 3! Hopefully you are hanging in there. It feels like it's getting easier, isn't it?
So I have a question for all of you. How often do you weigh? Are you an every day weigh-er or once a week weigh-er? Or somewhere in between? If you weigh every day how do you handle the inevitable ups? Have you been weighing yourself during the challenge or do you wait till the end?
I have a hate-hate relationship with the scale. Even when it's going down I don't believe it, I feel like it's tricking me to show me a gain next time. My whole fast-binge yo-yo diet started with the scale. I would go on a diet, next morning would get on a scale and not see any results and then the vicious cycle "I'll start a new diet next Mon - in the mean time I'll eat everything in sight" would start! After WLS I made a conscious decision not to weigh myself as often. I couldn't handle getting on the scale every day and seeing it going up and down. I usually weigh every 10 days or so, obviously I'm not binging in between but I feel like in 10 days I must have lost a couple of oz if not more. I also pay attention to how my jeans fit, if I start feeling them a little bit looser that's when I get on the scale. To make a long story short, I'll wait till the end of challenge to weigh and hopefully see a drop of couple of pounds.

I weigh daily, against better advice, but I've gotten accustomed to how my weight ebbs, and I like watching the graph/pattern on my Fitbit app (I have the Aria scale). Even though my weight is up and down constantly, I can still see an overall pattern of steady loss that keeps me from being TOO discouraged. I attached the pic. The light blue is my actual weight, it's all over the place, jagged, it dips and spikes. The dark blue is what I pay attention to.
that being said, I do have anxiety about my slow weight loss for today's doctor appointment, which is my 9 month checkup.

I see a down trend and that's all that should matter. Let us know how it goes at your appt.

My fears were of course, out of proportion. They looked at my food journals, talked about my exercise regime and said that even a little progress is progress, and asked how my clothes were fitting, about my energy levels, etc. I talked about my 4 mile hike on a "mountain" I did Saturday before we left Tulsa and how I'd have NEVER been able to do that 10 months ago.
The NUT told me to eat more calories--she wants me closer to 900-1000. I average 700-800 currently, so that wouldn't be a HUGE jump, but unsure if I should just "smile and nod" on that one or give it a try

Yay!! Happy the outcome was positive.
As you know every NUT is different. Mine had told me while actively losing I gotta keep it under 800. Once I reached my original goal she told me to increase it but keep it under 1000 while I wanna lose these last 10 lbs. So just take it with a grain of salt.

I'm leaning toward trying it their way at least for a few weeks just to experiment. There's always a chance the professionals might know what they're talking about ;) but if I don't see good results I'll go back to the lower calories. And who knows, maybe it's just an extra long stall and I'll drop 50 lbs this month (yes I know that's unlikely but a girl can dream for Christmas!)

I had a pretty good day yesterday though I did have a few nut thins with hummus in the late afternoon. But I ended up at 763 calories, so that was good. The rest of the day was all CAMAW.
I weigh every day because I never did in the past and I vowed that with WLS I was going to do all the things I should (weighing me, weighing/measuring my food, tracking, etc.). I have gotten used to the periodic ups due to sodium, constipation, etc. I like being able to see a trend earlier rather than later. And I feel like I press a reset button every time I weigh even if I ate more than I should the prior day. It is as if once I weigh, I can go back to the eating "rules" I know will work from me. It keeps me from playing the head game of holding off on weighing until I lose the weight I probably gained from the Oreos I ate last night, then not weighing for weeks because I keep slipping.
