Post Surgical Pain?
I am 10 days post-op (laparoscopic rny) and continue to experience pain on the right side between two incisions. The pain is pretty intense, and the only way I know to describe it is a tearing or burning sensation. It is worse when I go from a sitting to standing position and when I straighten my body to try to walk. It gets better after a little time walking, but it keeps coming back. I called my surgeons office and the nurse said it sounds like I have "angry muscles". She suggested stretches and heat. Quite frankly, the stretches hurt like hades, but I'm still trying to do them to get some relief. Pain meds take the edge off, but it doesn't eliminate the pain. I've tried heat hoping it will relax my muscles, but it doesn't seem to produce any real results. Other than this, everything else is going perfectly fine. I'm starting to wonder what in the heck I have done to myself ? Has anyone else experienced this type of pain? Any suggestions that have worked for you to get some relief? How long is this going to last? Wondering if acupuncture might be worth exploring? Emotional exhaustion is starting to set in. Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated.
I had horrible muscle pains for about 2-3 weeks after surgery. Lived on Oxy constantly, got pretty depressed thinking this is my new normal. One day it disappeared and never came back. Have faith!
