Is this normal?

I had the RNY in sept of 2011. I still have to chew my food to mush. I cant eat much more than 8 oz of food? I feel like my food gets stuck and I did have issues right after my surgery they had to go in and stretch the opening to my intestines from my stomach like 3 times. I get scar tissue very easily so Im wondering if maybe Im still having issues. I dont know what is normal for this many years out and Im not able to see my dr or call him as I no longer live in the state where I had it done. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm 6 years post op and can eat one cup or 8 ounces of food at a time too. My program said that was what was expected and is how we are able to keep our weight off.

This doesn't sound normal. I would find another surgeon near me and find out what's going on with me right away. Good luck.

We are always supposed to chew a lot too. If I don't at 6 years out especially with meat I do sometimes get a stuck feeling. As long as you aren't unable to swallow the food it's normal and a sign that you've followed rules and not overeaten. Glad to see another long time person here! If you feel like it's getting worse or you aren't getting enough food in,by all means find another doctor and get it checked out.

Your old stomach worked like a big blender to churn and grind up your food. Your pouch just hold the foods and passes it through without grinding it up, so you have to chew it much more than before.
