What's on your Monday Menu RNY'ers?
Mornin' All!
I'm going to the pool today for the first time since I had plastic surgery. Although he cleared me awhile ago (maybe six weeks out?) to do whatever I wanted to, there were a couple things I was hesitant to try that soon - namely, Pilates and pool things. Oh - and weights. But I think now that I"m 12 weeks out, I'm probably safe. Phase 2 of the surgery is only a month away, so it'll be back to the drawing board again...
3 years 5 months out:
B: homemade coconut Greek yogurt with mango pieces (1/2 mango)
MS: coffee with half & half, protein shake
L: cottage cheese
AS: baby carrots with hummus
D: pork chop, 1/4 C sweet potatoes
ex: water aerobics
Good Monday morning all!!
Feeling ahead of the game simply because of time change. When the alarm went off at 6:00 I was already wide awake and that's a big accomplishment for me.
I don't know if I had shared with you guys that I, along with a friend, have signed up for a 15K hot chocolate run in San Francisco in Jan. Obviously I have to train for it so every weekend I've been adding .5 mile to my runs to get it up to 9 miles. Yesterday I did 8.5 miles. Although very sore I felt so proud that I can actually do this. My legs are strong and healthy enough to carry me for 8.5 miles. It's amazing to me that two yrs ago the idea of a 5K was scaring me. And now I sign up left and right for races. My sweet spot is 10K so this one is a challenge for me with the additional 5K. Anyway, next week I'll do the 9 miles and I'll keep it that way till Jan when it's time for the race.
In other worthy news, I'm working at the polls tomorrow as inspector. It will be a long day but oh so worth it. The day starts at 6:00 am and if we are lucky will end around 10:00 pm. I am also bringing in my famous pumpkin scones for the poll workers for breakfast. And I'm making chocolate fudge for an afternoon pick me up. It's not part of the inspector's job but it's done to keep the morale up and I've noticed people are happy when you feed them. Funny, one of the poll workers about two elections ago, had put in her feedback that she would work at any polling place that I'm at because of the snacks I bring in. I won't be posting tomorrow but I'll be thinking of you guys.
B: protein coffee
L: shredded chicken with cauliflower rice
S: parm cheese
D: turkey meatballs

Confession : the trail where I go it's in a forest so it has uphills and down hills. When the uphill is steep I walk it. So let's say I wog (walk/jog) not really run!

Oh yeah, there are signs all over the place for mountain lions. On Sundays though the trail is so busy with mountain bikers and runners that I'm not worried about the mountain lions. Abour 2-3 yes ago, I once went too late, about 4:00 pm and it got really spooky when it got dark. At the time I had my previous dog , Gemma, with me. I think she was spooked too. We turned around and ran back all the way to the parking lot. My car was the only car left in the parking lot. No wonder people were giving me strange looks when I was going up, I'm sure they were thinking crazy lady going up too late.

I preferred to walk at twilight because it wasn't as hot, but had to stop too because I didn't feel it was wise in CA. I once walked deep into the woods and miscalculated timing, turning back later than I should have. It was pitch black for at least the last 30 minutes of my walk back. But that was in NJ and I wasn't worried about being mountain lion prey! Although it was spooky, the only animal i saw was a big raccoon who immediately turned off of the trail he was ambling down when he saw me coming towards him. He wanted nothing to do with humans! Here on the island we have coyotes - and wolves!
