For the full liquid stage, you can (usually) use canned creamed soups made with water or 1% milk, as well as broth soups that are strained to remove any chunks. I drank a lot of chicken broth, as well as cream of chicken soup made very thin with milk.

I did a lot of broths and strained, thinned soups. You can get unflavored protein powder to add to these items to get some protein in that way also, just be sure to add the protein when the broth is cold or lukewarm first--it will clump up in liquid over 130 degrees.

Welcome to the forum and to week 2:-)

My plan allowed for one glass of fair life milk daily which helped with both fluids and protein, without the sweet from the shakes. 8 oz = 13 grams protein, not the best but when I was early out it helped me.

If it helps, I share your pain -- my first week was 64 oz of "regular" gatorade each day and that is all. I swear I had more sugar coating my teeth than is on top of a creme brûlée, it was awful.

Congratulations on your surgery!

Unjury makes high quality unflavored protein powder (though I still think it has a recognizable taste). They also make a chicken soup flavored protein powder, which is pretty good. You don't have to only have sweet liquids. As has been noted, just make sure you don't use water that's too hot when preparing this, or the protein will seize up and clump, becoming inedible. Sip lots of fluids, and walk! Good luck with your weight loss. Join us on the daily menu thread, it is helpful!

I second the Unjury chicken soup protein! It was a godsend.

I had a two week pre-op and a two week post-op liquid diet. So, I didn't chew for a month :) I also got SO sick of sweet things. I can second (or third) the advice for the Isopure unflavored protein powder. I would make chicken broth (I use Miner's chicken soup base I get on amazon but you can use bullion cubes or whatever you like) and make sure you make it warm, NOT hot, then whisk the unflavored protein powder into it. If the broth is too hot, the protein powder will clump.

Yeah, it sucks being on shakes for two weeks, but we survived and you will too :) Keep your eye on the prize! A year from now you won't even remember this time period.

And a week from now, you will have lots of savory options. Once I was cleared for soft foods, I loved ricotta cheese with italian herbs, tuna salad, mashed egg salad, cottage cheese. I didn't think I would ever have a shake again but I learned that my pouch didn't like real food first thing in the morning, so I used to have a Chike high protein iced coffee shake every single day for breakfast for a good 1.5 years. I got that off of Amazon as well.

Good luck!
