Hello menu peeps!
Missed you all last week. When I have an event I am "on" the whole time and I can't relax. We had a retreat in Napa in a very exclusive resort. It started on Mon evening (but I was there starting Mon morning) and ended Fri morning after breakfast. There were only 30 couples - the high echelon of Silicon Valley CEOs and their SOs - so I was on my best behavior. Tons of private winery tours, spa treatments, treasure hunts in old style cars and just wining and dining them the whole time. I knew there was no problem with menus because there was always protein but jeez the winery tours killed me. Somebody asked me if I was pregnant, because I wasn't touching the wine. It was kinda flattering they thought I'm young enough to be pregnant! But still... my saving grace was the state of the art gym on site. Every morning before the program started I was at the gym at 5:00 am (practically sleep walking).
So I came back Fri afternoon exhausted but happy, the retreat was a success. Lo and behold my hiking date with my gf was on Sat. We were supposed to do an 8 mile hike loop...but guess what? We got lost. Not lost lost to be scary but we were not on the right trail and we ended up doing a 17 miles loop 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. It got a little bit scary when it was around 3:00 pm and we realized we are nowhere near where we are supposed to be. Thank god we had filled up the form with rangers and had left it on our car for in case we are not back by 5:00. But the problem was we had checked the wrong loop on our form so they would have looked for us on the wrong side of the state park. Anyway, we did make it back, exhausted and so grateful to see the parking lot and civilization. Did I mention no cell reception in the whole park?
Needless to say I thought Sun was going to be my rest day. But noooooo...water polo season with the school just ended last week while I was gone, but surf team started. So DS had a surf contest 1/2 hr from home up the coast, and usually these contests are early in the morning. I couldn't let him & DH go alone on his first contest of the season. So I bundled up and left with them at 6:00 am. He did OK, nothing to write home about, but it's just a warm up for the rest of the season.
I am so happy it's Mon and I'm back to my routine.
QOTD: even though my weakness are sweets I don't like birthday type of cakes do I'll go with meatballs and spaghetti.
B: coffee protein
L: shredded chicken and cauliflower rice
S: parm cheese
D: turkey meatballs
Sorry for my long exhausting post. I feel like I haven't "seen" you guys in ages.

Wow, that kind of lost can get very scary fast! So glad you made it back safely. Good for you for staying on track with the morning gym, it's hard to do when you're one from sun up to well past sun down! (Our big partner event is next week and while I LOVE it, I also dread it).

I've missed you Sheila!! It sounds like your retreat was a smashing success - well done! So glad you and your friend found your way back to civilization - a 17-mile loop in wilderness is no joke! And now, from being a water polo mom to a surf team mom - no rest for the weary! Sounds like fun though!
