Hello Saturday RnYers!

Another beautiful October day full of sunshine and colorful fall leaves up here in the PNW!

Shauna and Cassie, I hope you both feel better very soon.

I upped my liquids yesterday and today saw a drop of 1.6# on the scale! I think dehydration was the culprit behind my otherwise inexplicable scale movement upwards. I'm so glad to be dropping. Here's to plenty of fluids!

QOTD: In my pre-op past, if I felt a cold threatening to come on, I would treat it with aggressive doses of tongue-tingling Echinacea tincture and vitamin C: two droppers full of tincture (from a 2-ounce bottle), plus 500mg of C every hour. I found that this protocol allowed me to steer around the looming cold instead of crashing right into it and being enveloped by it's misery. Several hours of Echinacea plus C were necessary, but this worked well for me.

If I didn't do this and actually got a bad cold, homemade chicken soup with garlic in it helped. Plus lots of tea with honey and lemon. Obviously, I wouldn't put honey in my tea as a post-op. I haven't had a cold worth mentioning since my RnY. Tinctures are made with organic grain alcohol - the alcohol pulls virtually all of plant 's medicines into suspension. I would still use tinctures as a post-op, as the amount of alcohol consumed is very small (perhaps a teaspoon per dose, depending on the dropper size). I'm uncertain of how the RnY plumbing would do with absorbing the medicine in the tincture, though. I'll try it if I get a cold.

The only OTC medicine I've used as a post-op is Tylenol. I do miss my Excedrine for Migraines, wow! That stuff was miraculous! But sadly, it contains aspirin, so it is a miracle which now belongs to the past.

First: tea! I'm going for starting the day with 4 mugs, each containing 19 ounces.

B: eggs

L: salmon with nonfat plain Greek yogurt and dried chives

D: lunch, redux, or chicken

S: chicken

Have yourselves some fun today, my friends!

Thank you Amy! Seeing the scale go up like that was, I admit, kind of freaking me out! I think I just have to be careful to get in at least 120 or so ounces per day. The mug I favor holds 19 ounces, so it's really not that hard - I just have to put a little attention there! So far I've had 5 mugs today - I'm almost at 100 ounces already!

P.S., I had some more blonde lights put into my hair! Between that and the blonde shampoo and conditioner, I'm looking much less orange. I like red hair, but not not glowing hot orange! I will go blonder yet, maybe all the way again! The only downside is that I have to immediately re-wash and re-condition my hair after using the blonde products, because though they do what I want them to do, they dry my hair out too much and leave it feeling rough with the ends frizzed out. So I follow them with my beloved Living Proof No Frizz line, and that makes everything right!

I'm drinking a 20 ounce mug of tea as I write this, keep up the great hydrating work!

Happy to hear about the highlights! The yellow/brassy are tones no bueno. I use a blue/purple toner shampoo a few times a week to keep my blonde ashy and icy but it really dries my hair out too. I've spent so much money on my hair over the years trying to find that magic combo, but I think I have it down for now!

Waiting for my friend to pick me up for dinner. Did I mention he is always late, he said 6 and it's now 6:45. I had a really bad nights rest, woke up pretty much every 2 hours and when I thought I might be able to go back to sleep my cat made sure I didn't.

Late night Ducks game tonight, doesn't start until 7:30 PDT so it will be after 11:30 before it's done. I usually DVR my games and start about 1 hour after they begin so I can fast forward through most of the commercials.

I tried a salmon burger for lunch yesterday on a sandwich thin, I only ate half of it but my pouch did not approve. So I was in misery for a while. Trying to add foods to my meals that are not sweet, but I need to be more careful of portions and slow down more. Salmon patty was 4oz so I knew I couldn't eat it all, but it's hard to cook half of a frozen patty.

Have a good night everyone!

I forgot to mention I have an interview on Monday at 7AM for the other job. Keep your fingers crossed everyone.
