Hi all,
Yesterday I went to a very moving fund-raising luncheon at the Four Seasons hotel here in Seattle. Gorgeous hotel. There were about 400 attendees and the program and speakers were pretty amazing, including the former US ambassadors to both China and to Vietnam. I took the train in with a friend, and wasn't together enough to eat breakfast first, so was very hungry by the time the appetizers arrived (3 shrimp on skewers, over salad). I ate the shrimp, which filled me up so that I had very little room left for the main course, which was barramundi. But I stayed true to CAMAW, having a couple of small pots of tea with milk. Anyway, the organization is Peace Trees Vietnam. They are involved in clearing the Vietnamese countryside of unexploded ordinance left over from the Vietnam war. Then they plant trees, help to support the terrible number of people who have lost limbs or become blinded by undiscovered bombs and mines, build schools and libraries. Pretty great cause, and many veterans of that war are involved, including my friend's older brother, who is on the board.
Then I went through Pike Place Market and many stores, while my friend went off to meet with another friend of hers. I wandered into Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, into Macys and Sephora and several other stores. I tried on jeans which were a total fail, but I can see it's going to take more of a dedicated effort, and hit and miss trying on of various brands, sizes, and styles for me to find a pair that actually looks good. Can I tell you how much I dislike mid-rise pants, or God forbid, low-rise? Then I tried on a bunch of coats - I need a new, warmer jacket, and a hooded rain shell, and a warm winter coat - I can still wear my old one but it is in fact too large now. Strange, kind of, since when I bought it I really wasn't heavy, but my body has changed. There were a couple of coats I liked but the one I liked best was $400, which I balked at spending. It was Ralph Lauren's moderate line, Lauren by Ralph Lauren, a knee length coat. It was a little thrill to me that size 6 was a perfect, comfortable fit (I needed a little ego boost after those utterly unflattering jeans, both of which were in a larger size than that). There was one jacket which I liked pretty well and it was nicely fitted (I didn't lose all this weight to spend money to look like the Michelin Man), and it made me feel boiling hot, but who knows if in actual cold outdoor weather it would be warm enough. Still, pretty soon I'm going to have to make a choice at least for a jacket, as it's getting colder! I'll probably order that jacket I liked.
Back to work today. I am happy to report that the weirdness on the OH site which rendered me unable to use it on my tablet has been fixed. Thank you, OH!

good evening, all!
My day was pretty much non-stop, starting with a 7:30 a.m. meeting with one of my fellow board members for an organization we're on to talk about our two upcoming programs. We're both really stressed about everything that needs to be done, but we're both feeling better about it now. Then class - then lunch with another friend - then an afternoon of knocking stuff out to get ready for the aforementioned programs - then meditation class. Then grocery shopping. Then getting all the crap off our kitchen counters since they're going to be replaced at 7:30 am tomorrow. Ugh.
QOTD: bra shopping was a pain (when it got to the time I had to get new ones). I desperately need to go back again - the two I have are way too big now (but not falling off, fortunately), but I'm having a breast lift in December - and will probably have a lot of swelling for awhile after that, so it'll be awhile before I'm at my "new normal size" and can go back and get something that actually fits and will work for me for awhile. Also, like many others, jeans. I've pretty much switched totally over to leggings. Easier to fit - and they're a lot more comfortable to boot.
