Sad doggie.
Bad news is never easy especially with our 4 legged luvs. I lost my brittany to cancer a year ago at 14 years. There will never be another like her. BUT....she had a good life with us and that is the celebration. No life on the streets, always a full belly, and lots of love. Hug 'em tightly for the short time they share with us.
Oh Deb, words can't express how sorry I am. Lucy looks like a little warrior so perhaps she will stick around for a while. I know our pets are legitimately a part of our family. You've given her an incredible life, and perhaps you will get to rescue another furry love and give him or her an incredible life in the future. Our pets are so lucky to have animal lovers for parents. I hope you are consoled knowing she's had so many wonderful years in your family. Sending hugs and step away from the sliced bread ;)

I'm sorry, Deb. She is lucky to have you.
We lost one of our dogs to liver cancer while on vacation in Boston. We did not even know she was sick, she hid it so well. The day before she died she was playing Frisbee with us. I did notice that she looked heavier, and was slowing down, but thought it was her age. She was 9 years old.
They can't tell us when they feel bad as well as consenting to chemo. I wish they could.
Awww Deb, I am so sorry. It stinks. Dog mama over here with no dog. I do get it.
