Hello to all,

I am a week and a half post op. I revised from sleeve to bypass. I am doing pretty good besides feeling tired a bit. My surgeon has me on protein and liquids. He did advance me to puree on Friday. He suggested that I do soft proteins such as cottage cheese etc. He wants me to continue drinking water to stay hydrated as well as taking my protein shakes, I use Isopure carb free. He recommended that I stay away from sugar and vegetables for now at least for two weeks. My question is since I had the bypass, is there a possibility that some of my protein is not absorbed completely?

Thanks,

S

Thanks,

You are absorbing a little less of everything, but it isn't a lot, is temorary, and lessens over time. I really wouldn't factor in malabsorption of protein.

You DO need to stay on top of malabsorption of vitamins and minerals, especially iron.

Make sure that you stick to whey protein isolate and avoid concentrate. Isolate will be the most easily absorbed, so you'll get the most bang for your buck.
