Yeah kinda crazy, huh?! I eat 5 almonds to put something in my tummy with my morning meds. Any other time of the day, I could eat a bowlful!

Janet, it brings tears to my eyes when I hear about your DW. I am so sorry. I wish there was something we could do instead of the usual

But pls know I'm thinking of you and your DW.

Thanks so much for your thoughts! She is really struggling with the loss on top of her own feelings of loss. It's just all really hard for her. I'm encouraging her to blog, to do creative activities and to talk with me, but without work and her friends there, she feels very isolated. Just one step at a time and one day at a time.

Sorry that your DW is struggling so, Janet. How lucky she is to have you! Hang in here!I

Also - I think it's so cool that you're running! I'd love to run, but fear of really hurting my already iffy knees stops me.

I tried running several times pre-op when I was trying to get more active and lose weight, including when I was over 200 lbs. I always had to stop because of problems with my knees, shins and hips, plus my asthma made it hard to breathe sometimes.

In the months after WLS, I did some running again but again stopped because of concerns about injury.

This time I find that I have developed and strengthened my legs with my trainer (think lots of squats, lunges, etc.) and that I am having less problems than I ever have. If it hurts and I have regular problems, I will stop again. I want to preserve my joints for a few more years! I also find that doing walk-run (wogging) cycles help to put less stress on my body.

Do take care of those knees though. You'd hate to lose even more mobility.

My knees are ok, they weren't before but they are now. I was experiencing near constant pain in them as a pre-op, and frequently one or the other would just suddenly give out. Plus there was this weird slide-and-pop thing going on with my right kneecap. But now I walk for hours, and climb all kinds of trails. I do feel a little sensitivity in them will when going down a steep incline or down deep steps, and I think I can and should start doing specific exercises to strengthen my knees so I no longer feel that.

YOU are an awesome inspiration!

Certainly squats and lunges have helped me.

I also suggest checking out Jeff Galloway's method of run-walking. It has been even more helpful than the Couch to 5K program to ease into running without hurting myself.

I ate like crap last night and I am disappointed with myself. I need to get myself together. Today is a new day and my goal is to not eat after 7.

QOTD: We have a multi purpose corn/pellet stove. Our back up is propane which we will use when it's super cold. I am already super cold and it's only 60 degrees!

B: overnight oats

S: PP chocolate shake

L: salad with deli meat and home made applesauce

S: Babybel cheese and maybe 1/2 a pear

D: stuffed peppers
