Nausea post op
I'm 6 weeks post op and experience a baseline of nausea that gets worse with the certain smells or after eating food. I have had a egd and swallow study both came back negative. Im barely eating like drinking and feel sick all the time. My doc gave me a script for zofran. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you're barely drinking, that is very likely your issue. Dehydration causes nausea, and it's imperative to stay hydrated, especially so early. It will be challenging to stay hydrated. I felt bloated for my whole first month or so every time I drank anything, but it does get better.
I recommend trying hot herbal peppermint and ginger teas, those flavors are generally soothing for nausea, and the warm liquid as opposed to cold drinks may be easier to get down.

Hi. I had my RNY on 8/20/18 so I'm about a week ahead of you. I've had nausea since post-op day 1 that hasn't stopped. Initially, I also had vomiting, but that cleared up after my surgeon found a stricture and dilated it on EGD a few weeks ago. But, I still have nausea. I've been on 3 different meds for nausea including Zofran, but none of them worked.
Another doctor, not my surgeon, also recommended ginger and peppermint teas. He also recommended chamomile tea. I had a little improvement with the chamomile tea.
If you come up with any solutions that work for you, let me know!!
