Morning menu folks! I had a bit of a lie in this morning but the cats and my bladder cut it shorter than I had hoped, so I'll get us started.

First, a shout out to all of you who are doing AMAW and CAMAW right now! I hope it is going well!

I'm afraid that today will be a sad and difficult day. One of our cats, Holmes, has been going down hill and we are taking him to the vet this morning for an evaluation. He had a rough life before he joined our family 3 years ago and has had anxiety issues and lots of gastro problems. He isn't really eating any more and not very interested in drinking either. It may be his time to go and that will be very sad even though he is our most difficult cat by far. As so many of you know, we love our kids, with and without fur, and they are such a big part of our lives.

In better news, a friend is coming to visit DW and that will be very nice for her. She has been very isolated since her diagnosis and having to quit work and she needs to be reminded that people care about her.

DW & I both had appointments with the doctor yesterday. I haven't been sleeping well for a while and got something that will help me sleep a bit better and also support my mood a bit more. I have to remember how important it is through all of this to ask for what I need too! DW had her "memory" med dosage upped. We are crossing our fingers and hoping that she can tolerate the higher dosage and that she may eventually see some slowing of the deterioration or improvement. We are also being referred to a "cutting edge" dementia specialist to see if he has any other protocols to try and whether DW has any other complications other than the vascular dementia from mini-strokes. Trying to hold hope through it.

I am SO excited about this fall-like weather here. I am hoping that I can get out to a local park and get in a long hike. I may also try to do a bit more yard work and even crash in the hammock for a while if the sun comes out! Also there are fresh apples at the orchard and I may see if we can stop for some of my faves. May also do some experimental baking or make some applesauce for DW if I can fit it in.

QOTD: Are you planning any fall activities for the next few weeks? Trips to the orchard? Hayrides? Haunted houses? Leaf peeping?

Accountability: my A1C (for my diabetes) is up a bit in my last labwork that I got yesterday and it is time to knuckle down on the sugar again. With all of the stress, some days all I crave is caffeine and sugar and I need to just refocus and get back to basics. I'm not planning to go AMAW right now but rebalance my protein percentage higher and limit my carbs to non-starchy veg and smaller portions of fruit and a few nuts.

B1: ham and lots of coffee

Pretty up in the air after that, but it will probably include steak!

Is your DD still in the DC area? It's good to have a fan club and there are lots of cool things there.

Yup she is working at a coffee shop and the costume shop for the University she graduated from. She wanted to take a year before going to graduate school. She does not remember what it is like not to be a student.

Good morning Janet. Thank you for getting us started. I am so sorry to hear about your cat. You have given him such a wonderful life.

Yesterday was a hard day! I am doing AMAW and I fell off the meat wagon. I ate a small package of Cheeze its. I know that it was only 140 calories and 17 carbs, so it could of been worse. I am mad that I ate out of stress and I am pissed at myself. Old habits are hard to break. Parenting adult children is hard and they can really push your buttons!

QOTD- I am going to Roloff Farm today with my daughter and her husband. They have the show on TLC, Little people Big World. They are about an hour from our house outside of Portland. The weather is supposed to be beautiful today.

Food for today-

B- 4 oz ham

lunch will be out. I already looked at the menu. I will either have the steak bites or the meat from a hamburger.

S- I will have a chomps in my purse and a bag of jerky

D-I am going to cook a turkey if I get back in time. If not, I will grill a piece of fish

Lots of water and vitamins always
