Good morning and Happy Wednesday! I hope the rest of the week zooms by! I'm also ready for fall weather and turning off the AC; we're staying in the 80s for a few more days/weeks though -- maybe by November that will change!
QOTD - my most recent NSV is that I climbed to the crow's next on the boat last week! Not only that, I didn't spend a ton of time and energy questioning what the safety gear's weight limit was, I just signed up and did it! It was terrifying and fantastic!
Accountability - I switched up my menu yesterday and ended up at 750/71/28 on a plan of 712/77/18 so not great. I am starting CAMAW today for the week and I'm ready!
B - Coffee with PP in the morning
L - 3.1 oz deli roast beef
D - 4 oz 93% lean ground beef, slice cheedar
Tea all day - 100 oz fluid goal
Cardio pilates class this afternoon
Have a great midweek day everyone!

Hi!
I feel like I am frequently complaining when I post here. But, I keep hoping someone will read about the problems I am having early post-op (about 1.5 months post-RNY), might have had similar issues, and might have suggestions on how I can get past these early bumps in the road. So far, my doctor has checked my lab work, which isn't really off, and has offered me more IV fluids. She's not sure whether they will really help, either.
After having an early post-op stricture opened a few weeks ago, I thought I would be fine. Now, every time I eat and I feel the food hit my pouch, I become nauseated and get a severe headache. It doesn't happen with fluids. But, the nausea and headache last for a long time -- up to even 4 hours. By the time they go away, it's time for my next meal. I want to eat, but I don't want to restart the nausea and headache. The result is that I usually have a glass of high-protein milk for breakfast and a small lunch, but end up skipping dinner and snacks. This is not a healthy lifestyle, especially when losing weight!
QOTD: So many NSVs keep happening and it's so exciting. I'm sure everyone has experienced this one. Even though my weight hasn't changed for over a week, I still dropped another pants size! It's just amazing how the body remodels itself as weight is lost.
MEALS FOR TODAY (I hope!)
Breakfast: high protein milk
AM Snack: fresh mozzarella and 2 Carr's pepper crackers
Lunch: ham, swiss, and mustard
PM Snack: low fat, sugar-free Greek yogurt
Dinner: turkey meatloaf

What does your dr say about the new nausea and headache issue? What are you hitting as far as fluids?

My doctor hasn't really said much in the way of whether she has seen these symptoms in other post-WLS patients. Like I said, she offered more IV fluids if I want them. I do have a follow-up appointment on Tuesday, 8/16, so I will bring it up again.
I could probably work harder on the fluids. That may be contributing to my headache. I'm just barely hitting 60 oz a day. I guess I should probably shoot for at least 100 oz per day.

I would give that a try for sure; my initial plan called for 64oz but due to low blood pressure that was moved up to 100 and it's made a huge difference. I know a lot of the vets here drink 100 or more daily. Good luck!!

I strongly agree that you should increase your fluids. It seems like most doctor's say that 64 oz is enough but I found early on that I needed at least 100 oz (I count SF popsicles, water based protein shakes, ice tea) to keep losing weight and to stay hydrated. Now if I am exercising for an hour, I can drink upwards of 200 oz including 32 oz of PowerAde Zero post workout. You can feel nauseated and have headaches from dehydration. Push those fluids, including some shakes and see if that helps. Also you might want to contact your doctor or nutritionist sooner since your body really needs the nutrition to heal.
