Hi Amy,

Dr. Billy ordered this for me. I had it done at his office. I don't think you need to ask for specifics, but you can ask about that. I didn't, and it broke things down anyway. You lie down on a big padded table, and your ankles are secured into a position so they don't move. The scanning apparatus is over you, but you aren't enclosed in a tube or anything. It is painless. It doesn't take more than 20 minutes or so. It will tell you your bone density, your body fat %, etc. I want to have another not only to check my body fat, but also to see where my bone density is at now.

Oh, now that sounds simple! I will call my WLC and see if they will do/order one. If not my PCP will I'm sure. Thanks!

I just went directly to a place that offers them for a charge since insurance won't pay for it anyway.

My insurance (BC/BS) covered it, it would cover one scan every other year if ordered by a doc. Now I'm about to move over to Medicare - what a confusing maze! - and I'm not sure what is covered. I figured it would be covered since it diagnoses bone loss, but I don't know yet for sure.

Lucky! My insurance will pay for the bone scan only (and only above a certain age).

Morning everyone!
I am late again today but not as late as yesterday...still filling in for my co-worker but today will hopefully be the last day I need to do this!

QOTD: I have one sister who is just under 3 years younger and a brother who is just under 7 years younger and we are all pretty close and see each other regularly. They are both married, sister has 3 kids-4yr old girl, 2 yr old boy and 3 week old boy, and brother has a 9 month old daughter.
I have a huge extended family- Mom had 8 brothers and 2 sisters, So I have 28 first cousins on her side and I am very close with a few of them. most of them have kids too so our family get-togethers are huge even when only half the family comes... My dad has 2 sisters and a brother and I have 6 first cousins on that side but didn't grow up with them as they lived on the east coast mainly.
My mom's mom was the best grandmother anyone could have asked for--she was a superhero, and she passed away when I was 18. I still miss her very much. Mom's father passed away when she was 7 years old so I never knew him. My dad's father passed away when I was 16 and he was also an awesome grandpa even though we only saw him every few years. My dad's mom was a difficult woman to love, she was very judgmental and not very affectionate but she just passed away 2 years ago at Christmas time.
DH also has a huge family as he is the youngest of 7 (he was actually adopted by his paternal grandparents so his older brother was actually his bio father but he didn't find out til he was 14). it's a very strange family dynamic. His mom is still alive but she is getting very old...I think she is 88 now. 2 of his brothers have passed away since I met him--one from pulmonary fibrosis (his bio father) and the other from a freak accident when he fell off a roof last year. he also has a half sister and half brother from his bio father and he is not close to the brother but close to his younger sister who is I think 27 now but she moved to Seattle a few years ago so we rarely see her. she has an 8 yr old son and his half brother has 2 grown sons. he also has a ton of nieces/nephews and cousins.

B: coffee/sf creamer, 1/2C cottage cheese w/chopped up strawberries
L: leftover salmon burgers (I finally made them last night!) and mixed veggies
S: L&F Greek yogurt
D: DH is making mini meatloaf's and green beans

Good Evening All,

I am so, so tired. Chico (my Jack Russell) had me up at 1:30. He usually sleeps through the night and is never a problem. I don't know what was wrong with him last night but I didn't fall back asleep until 3 and got up at 5 - almost done with this day.

QOTD: I have two brothers - one older and one younger. I great up in a mom and dad who still live in the same house I grew up in. I had grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins galore! Huge family on both sides. My grandparents are gone and some of my aunts and uncles are aging but I have lots and lots of great family memories.

9 months out - weight 169.5 (teetering back and forth)

B: PP chocolate shake

S: Greek yogurt

L: tuna pack with 1/2 a honey crisp apple

D: small salad with turkey and cheese but it made my belly hurt so I stopped.

Hope you all had a great day! Here is a picture of my fur baby Chico, the rescue dog!

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!
