G'morning menu peeps!

Had a great weekend. Yesterday with two gfs did a 9 mile hike. So fun when you are gabbing the whole time and don't realize you are exercising. We decided we need to do this at least once a month. We are in the most beautiful area for hiking and just need to choose a different state park every month. Next date is set on our calendars and we are pumped up.

QOTD: Neigbors across the street had her xmas tree up all year long. From across the street it looked all dusty and spider webby on it. It looked more a Halloween decoration than a xmas tree. 4 years ago I was gone to Italy intermittently for a family emergency through the year and these neighbors invited my husband and kids for a dinner, very nice of them. The kids got really spooked once inside the house, supposedly the whole house was like that. They had xmas trees all over the house and this was in September. Never went back and we were happy when they sold and moved away.

Accountability : planning on doing AMAW this week to kick the last 2 lbs to the curb. Cara's 200 lbs loss inspired me to get moving and not being complacent. So here we go...

B: Turkey sausage link + tons of coffee

L: Tuna pack

S: jerky (or pork rinds)

D: chicken fajita (minus the veggies)

Wish me luck! I already miss my cheese and protein powders in my coffee.

Good morning! It was a great weekend, though I've had enough of the rain. As wet as it has been, I've still enjoyed the start of the fall season. I'm frozen all the time anyway so I just embrace the change from the heat.

Menu is pretty good today and has been lately, though a treat happens from time to time. Still on track though. Protein bar and a coffee today, with shakes for snacks if I need them. Lunch is a salad with tuna and an egg chopped up.

Qotd: I'm thinking back to the pizza delivery days here, so 1996-ish. In that job I met all sorts of people. Some really awesome, most just hungry but cool, and some just plain nasty. Speaking of nasty....I delivered to a sketchy bachelor pad place. He opened the door and every odour you could name hit me in the face. It was a mess. I looked up and there was a dog curled up on the floor that I'm not entirely sure was alive . It didn't move at ALL when the door opened. There was also a camera on a tripod, a woman laying on the bed, and another woman walking around the apartment wearing....um....a marital aid. Not judging, you each their own, I just declined their offer to step in out of the rain and made darned sure that the camera wasn't rolling, haha. Needless to say, I got the heck out of dodge in my Chevy pretty quick. Honestly don't even remember if I got the pizza money or a tip. Might've just left. I kinda laugh now but that was likely the weirdest thing I saw on the job.

Remember, no matter where you go.......there you are.

Hi all! My first day back, just posted a re-intro, so I'm gonna jump in with both feet here...

qotd--oh boy. We used to own an old house, and now we own another old house. Old houses are so weird. Our previous house, probably the weirdest thing someone did was that they turned the attic into a bedroom and bathroom space. The weird part is that there was no door or anything between the bedroom and bathroom. It was just all one big open space. I tried different things while we lived there to fix that, planning to one day get someone in to actually build a wall, but we never did.

B- fritatta with chicken sausage, peppers, onion, goat cheese. This was so good. Kids wouldn't eat it, that's find, more for me this week. Also had some banana. And coffee.

L- probably more fritatta, and some salad

D- chicken thighs with a bunch of middle eastern seasonings, chick peas, peppers, mushrooms, and onion in the crock pot.

S- greek yogurt, chamomile tea

Good morning~ SO happy to see September go, I love ya' but it was a crazy month and October looks to be much more tame... I had a great relaxing day yesterday and still got a ton of things done around the house. Today we are having a birthday breakfast potluck for one of my staff. Thank goodness I brought yogurt and berries cuz it's carbs as far as the eye can see.... I changed my mind about the gym and only sticking to low key exercise until I get to goal. I really want to work out and stick to it long term so if I gain again, I'm sure it will all even out eventually. I think about my slow progress this last year and my 2 year coming up and I'm still not at goal has gotten to me. On top of that, last night - Rob was really honest about his concerns. He thinks I am too bony and too thin. He worries when I'm sick, upset stomach, going too much or not enough...and that I get so sick (RH and dumping) when I have eaten sugar. Just the fact that I won't eat it now bothers him. He asked about reversing the surgery. I'm all kinds of confused. I do want to lose 10 more pounds. I think exercise will help - if only mentally at this point. Definitely plastics (BTW, I was turned down for panni by my insurance) - next year. Anyway - I need to stay focused. Moving on...

QOTD - The only thing I can think of is that my childhood friends grandparents house was really odd. They had a huge old Victorian house, tons of people lived there, it was super cluttered and creepy dirty. The kitchen was gross - it always smelled like rotting food and cat/cat box. She would always want to eat there and I just couldn't. I had never seen anything like it before.

Accountability - Great!

22 mo out 156.6

B- coffee x 3, yogurt, fruit and granola - I ended up eating twice my normal portion and will log as such

l-I'm so full - may skip or have more yogurt

d-eggbeaters, diced green chilies, salsa

es - no!

v/l - on track

e- cardio/weights -oh it's happening

Have a good day all~

If I remember correctly, you met Rob post-surgery. It may be hard for him to understand the change and the life-long cost for having health. It can be difficult but from what you have said about him, I think he will understand if you keep talking about it.

Regarding weight loss and exercise, yes, it can be true that you won't lose weight as fast if you are exercising, especially if you are doing heavy weight training. That said, regular exercise will help your health, your body shape/tone and your sanity. I encourage you to continue with at least some exercise even if it means that your loss is slow.

I met Rob before/pre-WLS and at my highest weight to boot. You might think he preferred plus size women, but it turns out I was his first - so who knows! Anyway - on OH, all of the stuff we go through daily is SO NORMAL. But for him, it's seems so unhealthy and cause for concern. I try to avoid all issues as best I can, but as we all well know -it happens.

I agree 100% that exercise will improve my body and mind. I really want to feel my best. I am going to continue working out regardless of the number on the scale.

The whole goal thing is a little confusing to me, too. I am still 2.5# over my first goal, and 10.5# over my second goal. I want to hit both of those, and God willing, I will. Then I wanted to lose a bit more to give myself a cushion - some of the vets here have recommended losing an additional 10-15 pounds below your goal to give yourself room to adjust both in maintenance and in the event you experience some year 2-3 regain, which seems to be a common experience. If I lose 15 pounds beyond my second goal, I know I will be considerably thinner than I actually feel looks best for me - that would put me at 127#. I have weighed less than that by a few pounds as an adult, but not since I was in my 20's, and as I'm now in my 60's I am uncertain if it is worth dropping that low both in terms of my looks (my face especially) and possibly also in terms of resilience should I catch a bug. At that point my BMI would be 19.3. Maybe I'll just go down to 137 or 135 instead; that would be 5-7 lbs. under my second goal (142#). I guess I'll see when I get there! A DEXA scan is probably a good idea for both of us.

yes - a DEXA scan can be very helpful. It was after I had one that I realized it was time to stop losing weight. My body fat percentage fell in the "lean" category, and I was advised not to lose more weight (but I was OK where I was, I was told..).

and the thing about sickness and older adults is a concern for a lot of doctors nowadays. My PCP is one of those of the mind that older adults should be in the 23-27 BMI range (I'm at 24.something now, but have been down as low as 22). I do think a DEXA scan might be a good investment...it really is helpful. At one time I wanted to try to get down to sub-130, but that would not have been a healthy weight for me...even at 146, I was "lean".

I will have a DEXA scan. It will be a year since my last one anyway, and I want a follow up to see where I stand, regardless. I'm not unhappy with my current weight though I want to be under 150; actually I will definitely continue to diet until I hit 142, 10 pounds under my current weight. That will put my BMI at 21.6. But maybe I will stop at that point. I will certainly look thin - I actually feel I already do - it's unreal to me, but my leggings and top in that photo I posted on Friday are a size XS! A DEXA scan will help me to decide.
