Morning friends.. Busy weekend... My brother won peoples choice at the Chili Cook off.. This was like the 6th time in 9 years he won. I'm sorry but I would rather win peoples choice than from the judges any day. Today if filled with a regular work day and then I have a co-op meeting tonight. Good times.

QOTD: I'm going with my co worker who has a file drawer full of obituaries but it is here in the office... She has worked here for 32 years and she has been collecting them since then. Anytime anyone passes away that she has even met in passing she will print it off and put it in this file. She was on vacation one day and my boss asked me to look for something in her desk (I think he was afraid of what he would find) and I came across the folder. Kind of freaky but then again she is a weirdo anyway.

Food for the day:

B: Bacon

L: egg scramble

D: roast beef and cheese on a wheat disk

Hope everyone has a great day..

I wish he does not have a recipe just wings it... Last year it was to hot this year it more on the sweet side...

Last year he won judges and not peoples choice. He was ok with it but perfers to win over the people.

Good morning. I am sitting here all wrapped up in blankets and its only October 1st. I can't imagine how cold I will be in the Chicago winter. For as long as I remember I had always slept on top of the bedcovers, but now I sleep wrapped in a fleece blanket under another blanket and a comforter.

This week, I have two days in the office and then one at a client and then I am making my first trip since surgery. I hope Jen is back here today so that I can get some tips on work travel.

QOTD: All manner of inappropriate wall decorations when I was in college, but I can't think of much since.

Breakfast: Turkey meatballs &cottage cheese

Lunch: Starkist tuna creations, probably something else

Snack: Volpi, SFpopsicle

Dinner: Cod and brussel sprouts

stay warm.

I'm a couple hours NW of you (Madison, WI). My first winter here I thought I would die. But then, that was over 30 years ago - winters since then have become milder (except for the rare one or two). It depends on what you're used to. Although I hate the winters here, I've grown accustomed to it. As long as the temp is in the double digits and the streets and sidewalks are plowed (which is most of the time), I can deal with it.

My first work trip post surgery was maybe a month later? I brought a shaker bottle and measured out my protein powders into small snack plastic baggies. I remember we had a big team dinner at an Asian restaurant and I ordered a tuna sashimi appetizer and ate about half of it. No one noticed or cared. I had told people about my surgery but no one made a big deal out of it. For that first year when I was around customers etc, and everyone was ordering drinks, I would get an ice water with lime and say I was doing a cleanse. Apart from some gentle ribbing, no one cared whether I ate or drank :) You will do fine - I came to realize that no one is tracking what I eat or drink and I am the only one who made food into a big deal in my head :)

My only recommendation is that you not try a brand new food in a crowd. For example, if you haven't had steak, don't try it the first time at a restaurant with your customers in case it doesn't sit well, gives you the foamies, and makes you have to go throw up in the bathroom!

Good luck!!! You can do great and stay on track.

Do the best you can on the work trip. You are early out so, it is hard to eat a little of just anything. A side salad or broth based soup often helped when I was sitting with people and needed something then, figured I would get the protein later. Be careful of things being too dry...that can come back to bite you in the butt.

If you can get to the store get some premier protein, easy to take with you and swig at any point of the day. Otherwise bring a shaker bottle- I find the 16oz Blender bottle fine for trips- no need for the large one, and I pre-portion bags of protein powder. Just add water and shake. I find it best to shake with water, let it sit for a few minutes to dissolve- shake again and then add ice. If I have over-diluited it I might add a packet of sweetener in.

As far as jerky goes- again, you are early out so I wold be wary of trying them if you haven't- the softest jerky I have found is Krave and Perky Turkey brands.

hmmmm- interesting question today peach...

ok-so i had an eventful- in a good way- weekend. Saturday I ran errands over by my moms house. We hung out, I got added to her costco membership so that was good (still need 'proof' i live there which I don't ) so have to work on that lol. Dumb rules. Premier proteinw as about off special also so got some of that.

Sunday I slept a little late, tried to watch harry potter movie - I have never seen one and the 3rd? one was on- so I was all confused. So I have to start at the beginning and have to wait until they show it so I don't have to pay. Then I went to SUP yoga class with my board. it was amazing... the marina was so nice and the water was awesome and no I didn't fall- several did which is fine. I did see a bald eagle also!

QOTD: hmmm - I babysat so I saw lots of things in closets and drawers I should not have seen and probably didn't even know what they were... How about snake skins mounted on planks? dead stuffed animals?

Weigh has been steady for 4 days straight- I've been working hard but it is not moving.

Increasing water today...

Foodplan:

coffee

water

coffee

water

leftover chicken

roasted squash

spinach greens

ribeye steak and salad? need to cook the steak- maybe I will have mine then DH can take tomm?
