Hello everyone! I'm 1 year and 1 month post surgery, have exceeded my weight loss goal, and honestly really REALLY hope I stop losing weight! I'm down 150# and weigh 160# at 5'9. I've started trying to add more calories to my diet to figure out where I need to be to maintain. So here is my plan for the day:
B: premiere protein shake (160cal) and coffee/creamer (35cal)
S: Pepperjack cheese bar (80cal)
L: grilled chicken and broccoli at Outback (1/2 of the meal) (340cal)
S: roasted red pepper hummus individual pack and some pretzels (164cal)
D: homemade chili (370cal)
Even having 2 snacks, I'm still under 1200cal. I really do not know how to get in more without adding in non- healthy options. I can't believe I'm having this problem-- never had it in 46 years! I don't normally have a snack between breakfast and lunch, but I am trying to add calories. Ugh.
RNY Aug 9, 2017
Start: 311 pounds.
Pre surgery: -30
M1: -20, M2: -10, M3: -12, M4: -10, M5: -9, M6: -7, M7: - 10, M8: -8, M9: -5, M10: -10, M11: -7, M12:-6, M13: -7
Congrats on your success! I had some problems stopping the weight loss at first. At the suggestion of some of the vets, I added about 100 calories a wee****il the loss stopped.
Also looking at your menu, I would suggest that you trade the pretzels for a piece of fruit. The pretzels have no nutritional value while the fruit in moderation has vitamins, minerals and fiber along with the carbs. The beans in the chili are also a good option. A few veggies like grape tomatoes and baby carrots with your hummus, again healthier options with fiber. Also a meat stick (like Chomps, jerky or Epic bars) would have more protein than the cheese or hummus and that will keep you full longer. I encourage you to stay focused on dense protein and not let empty carb calories creep in. They are a bad habit that will come back to haunt you in months to come.
Ok, just my opinion and experience. Maintenance can be just as hard as losing because it takes a shift in thinking. All the best!

Hi all! Happy Wednesday!
Sorry to hear that you're under the weather, Peach. I hope you feel better very soon!
I want to wish everyone here in the path of Hurricane Florence a very safe and protected next week or so. Please prepare well, and take no unnecessary risks.
Another busy day. It's 59 degrees and overcast today. Though that's that's not cold, I am feeling in need of cozy warmth. So I have tights, a cardigan, and a velour skirt on - very soft, warm, and cozy. For a very long time I didn't experience being cold like most others do post-op, and in fact was always boiling hot! I'm not cold now, but do notice a bit more sensitivity to the temperature. Which is fine.
I made salmon and a pot roast yesterday so I am set for a while, meal-wise!
Today is my 15 month surgiversary, and I have lost 198.2 pounds, including my loss during the 2-week liver-shrinking diet I was on immediately prior to my RnY. This month I have lost 12.4 pounds. I do notice longer periods of the scale not moving, followed by a rapid loss over a week or two. I am still sticking to having not more than 650 calories per day, and am so grateful that I find this satisfying and sufficient almost always. My hunger remains quite minimal most days, thank goodness. I am very close to my first goal of weighing under 150, and would prefer to weigh 142, so that will be my second goal. I will try to lose another 9 pounds below that, putting me at 133, under my actual preferred weight. But I want to do my very best to manage any possible regain - thus the calculation of reaching the lower number. Still on track for this happening, I hope, in 2018.
First: Three 19-ounce mugs of tea
B: yummy pot roast, very flavorful and soft
L: salmon with a little nonfat plain Greek yogurt
D: a repeat of lunch
S: what else? Salmon or pot roast!
Have a good Wednesday, everyone!
