What's on your Monday Menu RNY'ers?
Morning RNY'ers! Monday... sigh. I spent most of the weekend trying to book our vacation and my mind hurts from searching. Nothing booked yet-- I can't find everything we want at our price range. Ugh- we actually have some money to travel and can't get it figured out. I'm gonna experiment this week with something someone posted- and write out what I want (crave) to eat- and why, when I get an urge for something 'bad'. I think I know the answer- but I may surprise myself-- so I'm curios to see what it will look like by weeks end.
qotd: Name a product you won't live without- and would continue to buy no matter the cost? Me: makeup removing wipes. I wish I was disciplined enough to get up out of bed and wash my face- but I'm not. Make-up wipes are a god send and even though they aren't as effective as washing your face, at least I'm not sleeping in a full face.
No weight yet- not up, 3.4 years out
M1: egg, cheese stick, Ham
M2: Greek yogurt & berries
M3: tuna, boiled egg, cheese stick apple
M4: Chicken Parmesan

G'morning Peach & menu peeps!!
I'm back and jet lagged, hence up at 3:00 am and posting here!! It was a great trip because I got to see my family and meet the host family with whom DD will live this semester in Florence. My mom's health is OK, she got really scared so now she is more careful. From what I understood the heart attack wasn't due to a long term block but something "broke down" and blocked the carotid. I was really surprised when I heard the first time she had a heart attack because she doesn't eat fatty stuff. Anyway, she is good and we are hoping for a long healthy life. DD is excited to live in Florence. The program has about 250 students from mostly East coast colleges. So she gets to hang out with other Americans during school hours but because she chose to stay in a family she will interact a lot with Italians. I met the host mom and she got really excited when she realized I'm from there and that my family actually lives 45 minutes away. I think it's gonna be a good experience overall...I just need to get over the fact that DD is now 6000 miles away instead of 3000. Thank god for FaceTime and what's app.
QOTD: very related to what I just wrote I don't care how much the phone services/contracts cost, at the moment I can't live without my iPhone and the apps that allow me to be in touch with DD.
Accountability: great during the time I was gone. I haven't weighed myself yet but I think I've lost a couple of pounds due to portion sizes and the amount of daily walking.
B: coffee protein (I actually missed my brk while I was gone)
L: chicken fajita
S: Parmesan cheese (I ate so much cheese in Italy and I brought a TON of parm cheese back with me)
D: chicken skewers
Have a great start of the week!

It's so good to have you back home and on the menu thread! So glad your mom is ok, too. I'll bet that your DD will have a magnificent time in Italy, and it's fantastic that she has family just a short drive away! So happy to see you here again, Sheila!
Thanks Cara! It's good to be back and on my routine.

Morning all!
A quick drive by before another hectic week starts. This is the second week for my trainees and next week several more arrive. This training detail certainly is different from my normal job but very tiring. I spent alot of time this weekend relaxing and letting my brain have time off. I even had a massage yesterday, which is a nice treat. Money that I probably shouldn't have spent with DW on disability leave, but I needed to pamper myself a little too.
It was a cool rainy weekend here and rain in the forecast for every day in the next 10+ days. Temps are supposed to be around 80 though so back to muggy. I'd love to get out and walk at lunch but it will probably be inside laps and stair running. I packed my pool bag for an after work swim and if I am inclined there is Aqua Zumba tonight too.
Menu:
B1: Isopure C&C protein shake w/ iced coffee
B2: 2 HB eggs
Snack: chomps, 5 almonds
Lunch: fish, salad
Snack: Buddig's turkey packet, apple
Dinner: probably a TJ's salmon patty, baby carrots
Exercise: lots of walking and an hour of swimming

Things are rough. We keep trying to come up with small projects to keep her occupied, but she gets frustrated because she can't always remember what to do. She also has trouble sometimes even figuring out the notes that she makes for herself.
Saturday she started a new med, Aricept, that will hopefully help her memory capacity. Unfortunately it can cause gastro distress and it will take months for it to make a difference.
Any change and reversal will be slow and that is difficult.
Thanks for asking!
