Menu: ongoing garden produce paired with a meat. Usual snack is Greek yogurt with walnuts mixed in. QOTD: If I didn't have WLS....my lack of physical abilities would have continued to more significantly impact memorial experiences for family members and me. Edited to add the morning scene out my front window: the animal chasing on the heels of a deer running for it's life was my five-pound cat. If kittycat could refute my anti-bullying lecture, he would claim instinctual fun over bullying.

Good morning! Brother in law is flying in tonight for a visit. We got him a ticket to Metallica for tomorrow night for his birthday, and we're also taking my mom, who basically raised me on metallica. That show is tomorrow night.

Qotd: if I didn't have weight loss surgery, I'd still be giving myself insulin injections and likely ordering a pizza tonight because I don't want to cook. Instead, I'll pop my vitamins and pull something I've pre-made from the freezer.

menu: coffee and SF pumpkin pie spice creamer

snack: hard boiled egg with spicy mustard

lunch: 3 oz deli turkey and 2 slices of baby Swiss

dinner: undecided, but as stated, something protein-forward from the freezer. I'm thinking it might be chicken fajita.

Pizza nights topped my worst overeating-- stuffing myself to the point of sickness. Guess feeling stuffed beat feeling other things.

Mornin' All!

I joined this teaching & learning group for people over 50, and I'm going to my first lecture this afternoon. A lot of the instructors are retired professors (not sure about the instructor for this one). I've also enrolled in a class through this program called "1968" - it starts the last week of Sept and goes for 10 weeks. I can't wait! Other than that, not much. I'd like to go out for coffee, but it's raining - may have to make it here.

QOTD: still over 350 lbs, worrying every day that I was going to have a heart attack and they wouldn't be able to help me much because of my weight - and/or that I would die young. Fortunately, the only co-morbidity I had at the time was early onset osteoarthritis, which i'm sure would have been worse by now, but I wouldn't be shocked if I'd have developed some other obesity-related issues by now as well. I was damn lucky - but I'm sure these other things were just around the corner for me if I didn't get that weight off!

Accountability was great yesterday (calories below range - YAY!), but my weight is still up. I guess this might take another day or two. I've been over my calorie range (not much - but still) most days the last few days, and I've been eating a lot of sodium and fiber. Hopefully I'll be feeling normal again by the end of the week...

3 years 3 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt with 1/3 fresh mango

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein vanilla latte shake

L: deli turkey slices with string cheese

AS: protein pudding

D: seasoned TJ's grilled chicken strips on zoodles

You are only a month out from surgery. I know you think you are not still swollen. I promise you, you are still swollen. Don't worry about eating less planned calories, get as much protein in as you can.

thanks - and you are probably right. The results are looking really good right now, but from what you and other people have said, they will continue to look better and better as time goes on (because of the swelling going down). And I know at least some of the weight fluctuation is probably due to swelling - some days it's worse than others. I need to just eat on plan, get tons of protein in, and not get too upset by the numbers on the scale (and to be honest, they're not that bad. I was up to 150 again this morning, but it's not like I haven't been there before - I was there just before PS, in fact..). As long as I'm sticking to my plan, my true weight should be fine - I'm likely just dealing with excess fluids from the surgery.

Good morning all~ The gym was wonderful yesterday. I did some cardio then a weight circuit - nothing fancy. They had some cool new machines I really wanted to try but were taken. I'm going an hour earlier today so hopefully I can get on them. Anyway I'm having fun mapping out a schedule. I found a swimsuit yesterday! I'm really happy with it and can't wait to get in the water. I had to order the rash guard because they were out of my size, so I will wait until I receive it in the mail then I'm back in the water! Today I'm meeting my nephew for lunch - Mediterranean - outside his comfort zone, but they also have pizza so he'll be fine. I will get the chicken shawarma plate. Going to use my pocket scale for the first time to weight the meat - I won't know exactly whats in the meat (probably some sugar or fruit juice of some sort), but I'll know what it weighs!

QOTD - I would hope I hadn't have given up yet, but the truth is I'd be sick and tired w/heart disease, diabetes, high chol, high blood pressure and all the other complications that stem from all those conditions and medications including liver and kidney issues. My maternal great grandmother, grandmother and mom all had most of these and I was well on my way. Anyway, I'm healthy now. Night and day.

Accountability - I had yogurt for dinner and no evening snack

21 mo post op - 159.5

b- coffee x 3, light and fit Greek yogurt

l-chicken shawarma, hummus

d-chicken tenders, steamed spinach w/lemon and hot sauce

es - NF Greek yogurt w/strawberries

v/l on track

e-gym various cardio machines and weights

Have a wonderful day!

chicken shawarma should be OK. If they marinade it at all, they'd use Greek yogurt. Otherwise, it's probably just a spice rub.

I've been ruined by food network! I'm still mad about how much sugar I see added to Asian food, soups, BBQ- dry rub, sauce and marinade. I just assume anymore...

well, I guess you never know when ethnic restaurants try to "Americanize" their dishes...but in the Middle East, I don't think they'd add any sugar. I'll check some recipes, though. To be honest, I've never made shawarma (although I've made several Middle Eastern dishes)
