Small pouch day never comes my way.
Hi every!
i for answers from any vets around that may have had a similar experience and if there is anything I can to to help myself. I?m managing my weight well but I can easily eat several once?s of dense protein. Tonight I was quite hungry and had at least 7 oz of sirloin and had no feeling of fullness. I had some broccoli as well. I always do dense protein first and then veggies. I rarely eat anything else. I?m just concerned about how much I can eat especially when I?m really hungry. On rare occasion I get a feeling that says I?ve had enough and stopnbut that isn?t very often. When I see people online that can only eat 3-4oz it stresses me out an I worry there?s something wrong. I count my calories and all and can control things 90% of the time but just don?t know why I don?t fill up as quickly as others seem to. Is this normal? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'm in a similar boat. I very rarely if ever actually feel restriction or too full. I also could probably eat those same portions you describe. Instead, I measure out no more than 3-4 oz of protein and half a cup of vegetables for a meal and just stop at that. I've learned not to depend on feeling FULL to stop eating, but rather NO LONGER HUNGRY. In my case, I still don't really feel hungry unless I've gone a very long time without a meal or snack (I was recently stuck at a car dealership for 6.5 hours without eating and felt legitimately hungry then), so it's even more about convincing myself that I'm not feeling hungry--I'm just feeling "not full." For so long I ate until I was bursting and would often not be satisfied until I was over full, so I need to retrain my mind that it's not healthy to chase that too-full feeling.

That's interesting! I've yet to find a dense protein that will do that. Even dry chicken goes down easy!

Stop chasing the full feeling! I stop at 5oz of protein, no matter what. I could eat more of some things-- but have married myself to 5oz portion limit. Like Seattlesdeb, Tuna does me in After a few bites. Many times i don't realize how full I am until after the meal-- so it's important that I only put on my plate what I allow myself in terms of serving size. If you are arbitrary with amounts based on hunger or what your pouch will tolerate- you will keep pushing the envelope.

Most meals I adhere to the 4-5 oz portion of any type of meat. You are right that I must just weight out my portion and move on and I am really working at that. Being a band to RNY revision I know that feeling full is far different and I'm not really trying to chase the full feeling I just was thinking that it's odd that I almost never seem to get it. I'm in therapy to deal with my compulsive eating issues and trying to work everything though as I maintain this loss it's just that in my perfect world I would feel like some seem to do here after 3-4 oz. I guess as your saying I should accept that my body doesn't do that and move on!

As a person who shares the compulsive eating issue (BED, for me) -- I understand your feelings.
I must weigh my portion -- and NEVER EVER depend on feeling full. EVER.
My stomach/pouch is a compulsive liar -- and eating until I felt full was how I got to 347 pounds.
I literally take my food scale everywhere. I have a small one that stays in my purse.
Did I mention that my pouch is a liar?

Agreed! I have a small scaled I used to bring everywhere and then I thought I was good at eyeing it. Mistake for sure. Time to find space in my purse again. Thanks for the wake up.

Yes, it is normal to be able to eat a lot at 2 years out. Stop eating more than you should. Period. Hunger is not an emergency.
I can eat a huge amount but CHOOSE not to most of the time. It is the only way I am still near my goal weight at 10 years out (currently 7 pounds above but will lose it). My friends who chased that full feeling like you gained most of their weight back by year 5.
