How much time did you take off work to recover?
I took three weeks off and did stay home all three weeks, but to be honest, I could have gone back after two. Other than being tired (and wanting to nap in the afternoon), I felt fine. I worked in a library (mostly a desk job). It was kind of nice having that third week, though, to adjust to the new food regimen. Things are kind of touch-and-go food-wise for the first few weeks - some things just don't sit well. I did have strictures at 4 weeks and 8 weeks out, but those are really easy to "fix". No other complications.
My doctor offered me 6 weeks and I took it all. I have a desk job primarily and could have returned earlier as my recovery was uneventful. However, by that time of year, my job is pretty slow and boring so I enjoyed being at home with my doggies then being at work. I painted one of my bathrooms and got jobs done around the house.
I had VSG (not RNY), but the recovery time is usually pretty similar. I took 2 weeks off from my office/desk job and worked from home for 2 weeks. The last 2 weeks helped in terms of figuring out how to drink/eat, but if I HAD to I probably could have gone back a week after surgery to the office (would have been tired at the end of the day). No complications.

Surgery on Monday and back to work next Monday but I work from home on a laptop. The pain was very manageable it was more sleeping through the night and drinking water problems. I had RNY and agree with the comments on lifestyle with the food, medicine and just more structure to my life than when I would think about the yum instead of the protein!
